Quote
So where is the good news? It's in passenger cars — specifically small, fuel-efficient models. Of the top 10 vehicles, the car with the highest increase in sales over the last nine months is the Ford Focus, up 24 percent over last year. The Honda Civic has also had success — it is the fifth-best-selling vehicle in America so far this year, and sales of this small car have increased by 12 percent.

And in temorrow's advertising out of the big three, trucks trucks trucks!

At least on the television I watch.

In the face of declining marketshare, high gas prices, and the general shift towards higher fuel economy, the continued advertising focus on gas guzzlers is baffling. I get that there are higher margins on those vehicles, but it's going to take a strong line of sedans to win some share back from Toyota and Honda.

Focus gets crazy MPG, but the manual is the one that pushes 35 on hwy. I have an automatic cause of the commute.

Never had one problem with my '97 Accord, had to give the car to my brother though (who then proceeded to total it and then bought a Civic) and then I picked up an '05 Acura TL. Never once had a problem with this one either... I can't imagine not buying a Honda or Acura for my next car, even though the new model TL looks HIDEOS.

I drive a Chevy Tracker and I hate it. I sometimes drive my parents' Kia Optima and I LOVE IT.

My first car was a Chevy Cavalier and I just adored it. James drives a Cobalt.

I think the problem with 99% of "US Should do like Europe and Japan" is that Japan is a motherfucking Island and the individual countries of europe are also small. Not to mention their infrastructure is MUCH older than 200+ years meaning they arent at the mercy of sprawl.

The smaller cars are perfect for the suburbs and in cities.  The real problems are all the distinguished mentally-challenged fellows cruising around in massive SUVs.

Again, travelling sprawl is what americans do. I wont argue for SUVs, but we dont all stick to our suburbs
