College Discussion Boards: Serious question

Seriously, I'm about to fail out of college in part because of the fucking horrible Blackboard message board software. Fuck that shit hard up the ass.

I would rather just email my papers and use vBulletin or something. I'd probably actually use it more too.

What do your teachers use the message board for? The only time we use blackboard is for submitting certain homework problems, but that's just for liberal arts classes. My business classes use various sites created by the professors

It may be the software, but it's probably the incompetent dumb fuckers who are the network techs at this school.

It's already bad enough that I can't fucking play Xbox Live or the PSN or Nintendo WFC (or Steam now because they blocked whatever port logs you in) here because the Cisco Clean Access filter blocks their IPs because they don't have McAfee Virusscan installed, but the shit I actually USE TO DO MY FUCKING WORK is always broken.

Plus, the professors think you should have your shit done weeks in advance because of the network, but I've got other shit to do at college. Basically, the tech guys don't fucking fix shit, and the professors don't really understand how something can be broken

BTW: whenever the Clean Access fucks up (which it has already like ten times this semester) you can't get on the internet, even if the network is online. Meaning that a lot of the time I don't even get regular internet access.

Oh yeah, while I'm bitching about Berea College's network, Youtube videos load slower than fuck for no reason, and everything except Hulu really doesn't work if it is flash video. Even worse is that the commercials on Hulu take forever to play all the way through because evidently the actual show is in a different format of flash video than the commercials)

Mostly it's for paper submission, but you get a professor or two who just post homework assignments or reading or even use it for class discussion, which is sad that it doesn't even fucking work because the message board portion appears to operate a lot in theory like vBulletin does.

Berea's all about sustainability, which means that they don't use paper really. I don't remember the last time I turned in a paper copy.

Blackboard makes our Student ID readers for Food Service and the Cafe now, which comes in handy when that fucks up because I get free Cafe food by giving them another ID number.

Blackboard is a company on the rise. They have a goofy fuck eligibility waiting period which means a lot of people who work there right now are not on their insurance policies, but they will be 6 months down the line.

I feel for you that your school's techs apparantly wont or cant fix the issues. I'd talk to your advisor about it and see what can be done. Also, get others who have this issue to do so as well. If enough students complain, the advisors will take it to the dean who will get shit rolling.
