Gears of War 2: Visually orgasmic

I played about half an hour of it today at a friends house, didn't want to get too spoiled. Honestly? The game didn't do much for me action wise, but it was just 30 min, however...the visuals? OMG

I'm not joking, see the videos? Fuck the videos man, i've seen some shit now that can't be unseen. What i saw was the best mix of tech and art design i've ever laid my eyes on in a game. Not spoiling anything, but the shit that they did with the underground sequence i played....my fucking god, last time i was this wowed with a game was with Crysis 1. This game overdelivers in the visual department i'm telling you, and i used to think it didn't look as good as KZ2/FF13, F that, this game looks just as good as those to, and you will see it when you play it.

Now, i have to say i wasn't digging the gameplay though. It's kinda like, they wanted to do these awesome scripted events like COD4, but they kinda bomb hard? Which once i stopped thinking about the visuals it was what hit me hard.

I have a feeling this game is gonna get some lower reviews than last time around, it just wasn't much fun, but i was playing on normal, and it was a small segment.

i don't own the first but it was helluva fun to play when i tried it (even for minutes of play), what exactly did they change other than trying to shove in some scripted CoD4-eque events?

Well now the game isn't over when you get downed, Dom can save your ass now, you can use locust as shields...and that's kind it, there's really awesome enemies. I guess you just have to play on hard or something though because on normal it's like you are cruising around. And it was kinda weird, it seems there's more "walking around" now, i guess they really want to showcase the amazing visuals but damn man. Weird pace really. But again, small sample.

Yeah, the torrent is all over the place.  I am expecting more of the same (which is fine!) and hopefully improved multiplayer.

Yeah my friend's 360 is modded. It's kinda shitty but good to have a friend like that because in one way you get jealous that he sometimes gets to play the games i wanna play almost a month earlier these days, but on the other hand i get to play a bit of those games and kinda see if i'm gonna spend my money on that or that game, and that's cool.

For example, i'm not gonna buy Fallout 3 now that i've played it. 70euros saved.

I'm not expecting anything more than Gears 1.5, so this doesn't surprise me.

I will co op through the game on all difficulties with some friends, then hopefully Horde mode can keep me occupied.

Either way, I expect to shelf this game once Left 4 Dead is out.

I expect Horde Mode to beat the living shit out of Resistance 2's co-op, despite its relative simplicity. Or maybe because of that simplicity. The only thing I'm not sure about is how Invasion frenzy will work with the "stop n pop" gameplay.

Horde mode will be fun in the same way that GeoWars is fun, but I'm more of a fan of the kind found in R2 (basically the Sven coop type, except with experience) -- then again, Left 4 Dead is the best co-op experience you will have this season.

Gears of War 2 looks amazing,the amount of shit that game throws at you is unbelievable.
Framerate is  rock steady.Lightning,shadowing,self-shadowing is

I can't wait to play it. I enjoyed GoW1 a lot.   It's kind of surreal that the sequel is coming out so soon--seems like big budget games have more than 2 years between sequels these days.
