It sucks.  Really, really sucks.  Plus no achievements.

I would recommend acquiring it with sources other than money so you don't feel ripped off like the 90k people in Japan who bought it.

What does the Wii have for 2009?

MadWorld
The Conduit (I'm being nice here)
Sin and Punishment 2
Punch Out

This is seriously the complete list of both first and third party games on the Wii in 2009.  Both the PS3 and 360 are much better in terms of exclusive games and that isn't even factoring in the third party games for the system.

Oh, and even the PS2 had a better year than the Wii.

So I think the real question is why did Nintendo decide to skip this x-mas?  Usually there is supposed to be that one big 1st party title every x-mas like how Sony has Resistance/Uncharted, MS has Gears/Halo and usually Nintendo has Mario, Zelda, Metroid, or something.  What was going through Nintendo's head when they said "Let's just not release any major game during the biggest gaming period of the year?"

I know some people like to say it's because they are purposely giving 3rd parties a chance to sell their shovelware, but I think that's just a cop-out excuse because someone behind planning really fucked up this year.  Maybe Nintendo had something like Pikmin 3 or whatnot and the pikmin rebelled so they couldn't get it out in time?

All I've bought for my Wii this year is Wario Land. The Wii has the benefit of not actually having games worth playing so when there is actually one that comes out I can sit down and focus on it just a little bit. Plus I just like buying stuff.

Wii Music and Animal Crossing are their "big" titles this year.  They will outsell most of the quality HD games (including Dead Space aka GOTY). :'(

Ok.  Well you have been warned.  It's definitely the worst rpg I've played in some time.  Got about 12-13 hours in and doubt I'll ever finish it.  Even Kiryogi who is like the head of the Tales fanclub dropped the game when Vesperia came out and is never going to go back and finish it.

You should play Tales of Hearts in December instead.  Even with the moon language I bet it'll be a better experience than Symphonia 2.

I don't even think there is really a Pikman 3.  Did they ever clarify that they weren't talking about the Wii version of 1?

Yeah, IGN asked them this and they clarified that Wii Pikmin 1 was not the "new Pikmin" they're making.

The original is one of the best games this gen, and with Wii controls it could get better.

it's not even the same game on wii, i'll admit

it's pretty much a Dead Rising mod for the RE4 engine

Nope it can't get better on Wii or nope it's not one of the greatest games of the this gen? It's def one of my favourites.

I'll throw "nope" in there for both points.

It's not just a remake with Wii controls?  :-\
eh, sorta

it's the same story and setting, and the cutscenes are apparently just pre-recorded 360 ones

but the gameplay is different
-it's over the shoulder, RE4-style
-there's three save slots instead of just one
-you select missions which are individually timed, instead of one overarching 72-hour time limit
-no taking photos (who knows why the fuck they decided that)

RE4 was good, Dead Rising was good, seems like a good combination.

I'll be getting Symphonia.  Yeah, it sucks, I might regret it, but I liked the first game and I've got a pretty good tolerance for playing crappy JRPGs.

I thought TvC is out later this year? same situation with LKS.  Ok, so some games slipped my mind.  Wii Sports Resort could be fun for the sword game, Disaster might be fun (I didn't read impressions of the import version), Tenchu 4 is going to be stellar (this is another game I thought was 2008 in America, but I guess not), Kororinpa 2, Trace Memory, and Muramasa looks good.  I'm curious about the new HotD and I'm not sure if MH3 is going to be out in 2009 for America (let's see).  Oh, and PES 2009 is probably going to be great.

I admit there are a few more than I gave it credit for, but you are really stretching it there.  I still don't think it can compare to the other systems even for exclusive games, and definitely nowhere close for third party games.

So they took away most of made the title unique (72 hour story, 1 save slot). That's low. But I guess a perfect fit for the Wii. We can always dream of DR2. But then again they will prob make that easier too.

The over the shoulder RE4 style thing is good though I think. At least for the Wii controls.

Videos make it seem like they are making it a lot more shooter focused instead of just random objects.  I don't think the mini-chainsaws + books are going to be kind anymore

Well, they pushed back the one game I was looking forward to for this year (King Story) to 2009, so I'm not getting anything for the Wii (save interesting VC/WiiWare titles), especially considering Symphonia II is supposedly a disaster. 2009 looks to be a very good year for the system, though: Mad World, King Story (finally), Arc Rise Fantasia, Rune Factory Frontier, Fragile, and of course my 2 most wanted games for the system: Sin and Punishment 2 and Kororinpa 2.

I also hope we get a US release of Tatsunoko vs Capcom, game looks awesome.

All this, plus the thing that makes it most Not Dead Rising: there's hardly any zombies onscreen at once. I was looking at the screens in Nintendo Power with a coworker and pointing at the page, saying "There should be a zombie here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here..." My favorite moment of the original was climbing up some conical structure to save a guy stuck at the top, then realizing that while I had been climbing up, the zombies had formed an (in)human moat around us and I now was in the same predicament as the survivor I was trying to rescue. That's not going to happen on the Wii port-down.

I just got Tenchu 4, aside from that-

-Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (this is a lock)
-Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (never played it on GC)
-DDR Furu Furu Party (maybe)
-Bleach Versus Crusade (If Treasure doesn't fuck it up in 3D)
-Biohazard (maybe)

So that is three original games and two GC ports.

Get the cube version of DK:JB with the bongos.  Waggle will make the game awkward to control.

DKJB with motion controls is going to be really weird.  I don't know what the situation is like in Japan, but you can get both the game and the bongos for under $10.
