Both are classics but they're very different films. I prefer the Gothic horror of the first one over the action of the second, mainly because the first scared the shit out of me

I'll give a slight edge to Aliens, just because of how awesome Private Hudson is. They're both so good, though.

It's hard for me to choose because they both have so many memorable moments.

Alien:

-Alien popping out of dude's stomach
-crazy android with semen coming out of his body
-Mother
-the final section where Ripley's alone with Jones and dealing with the self destruct shit on the ship
-the last stand in the shuttle

and so much more

Aliens:

- Stupid family gets owned, makes me lol every time
- more funny dialogue in general
- the squad getting owned
- Vasquerez (sp)
- the medical room where Newt and Ripley fight off a group of symbiote Aliens
- like, the entirety of the second half
- mecha Ripley

In the end I probably gravitate more towards Aliens but that's not because it's better than Alien either since they're both classics. I guess I like Aliens more because the cast, the dialogue, the story...it just clicks with me more.

It's definitely a disappointment, what with the tease that Alien 3 would take place on earth and all, but judged on its own merits, I think it's a decent genre flick. It's just dripping with atmosphere.

It's clearly not in the same league because it is trying to do more of an Alien movie than an Aliens one. More tension-based than action-based. I wouldn't say Aliens 3 is the better film, but it's the sort of film I'd prefer over action flicks.

This is what makes the Alien vs. Aliens comparisons dumb. They are different genres.

I stopped watching WALL OF ALIEN at video 8. at this point it's getting REALLY good and i'm spoiling it all by watching it on a shitty youtube size box.

also I honestly don't remember 95% of this movie since i saw it when i was so young. watching it in 2008 is like watching a new movie.

The film is extremely ordinary I agree, but I give them an A for effort. I like that they used lots of miniatures and stuff, and minimal CG in order to try to stay true to the originals. Listening to the commentary is pretty interesting, really much more interesting than the film itself.
