I have it,it works perfectly.Tested Mass Effect,load times are quicker,pop-up loads quicker,framerate is more stable when you rotate camera quickly or run(tested on citadel).But the most amazing thing is that 360 is quiet.

games are totally oxe. get with the times. nxe is all about conducting group chats with your avatar pals. the drying up of exclusive games on the xbox side is actually part of a careful strategy

I didn't install it, but there is no way they're permabanning people on the 19th.  The dash is free, it doesn't require a mod to install, and most importantly, major nelson has said that they're aware of the leaked dash and said that people won't be able to get online with it until the 19th.  That's the official word, so if they permaban people, that would be fucked beyond belief...like they were trying to trick users.

Decided to go ahead and install NXE.  I also found NGII for cheap today, so I bought it and installed it. 

It is fucking awesome, as the thread title says.  Way easier to navigate, fast as hell.  Only complaint is that it's too wordy. It's not just a "Games" or "My Xbox" tab, it's "Games - blah blah download new and exciting blah blah blah today!"  or "My Xbox - Blah blah customize blah blah blah your xbox 360 etc. etc."  This is just an aesthetic thing, but really quite tacky to have to look at descriptions every single time you are in the dash...as if you're going to forget what the "Music" tab does or something.

NGII installed in a few minutes.  Loading times are definitely better.  The game seems to run better after the latest update...but perhaps it's streaming faster off the HDD too.  Also, forget about Jasper/Valhalla/Xbox Ultimate Super Edition, the air blowing out of the 360 after about 2 hours of play was barely warm.  This thing is hardly putting out heat and I'm guessing RROD will get cut down even more (is it still a problem with Falcon's anyway?)

Another cool feature I didn't pick up on in coverage is that you can hop from game to game without having to go back to the dash, which is nice.

Only major complaint is that 1440x900 seems gimped.  My monitor is 1440x900 native and I'm still getting black bars.  I don't know if this has anything to do with using the VGA adapter, but it's pretty annoying since 1280x720 is stretched a little.  Maybe the real release of NXE won't have this problem?

you must insert the disc into the drive everytime you want to play from the hdd

so no renting wont help, and you shouldnt sell the games after install either ( i read one gaf someone installed nxe then sold off all his games )

Love how cool the 360 stays now.  I was never too worried about heat, but this thing runs incredibly cool.  If I could just get rid of the quiet, but somewhat high pitched, sound of the fans, it would be perfect.  Installs are amazing and I hope they remain standard.

I'm thinking about installing it if only for the noise reduction.  I had my 360, PC, PS3, and AC on all at the same time and the 360 was louder than all of them while just in the dash menu.  I don't know if it was just in my head, but it even seems louder than before.  I need to get a new 360, I just gotta wait until Dell has another good deal on an elite.  Gears 2 online isn't work sacrificing for me, so I just gotta wait it out.

Got my 120GB yesterday in the mail and even without the NXE update I pretty happy with the performance of it.  I don't know if these drives run at a higher speed or what but I've had several 20GB HDs from various 360s that I turned into Gamestop while I was under their warranty (for some reason when I turned my systems in there they wouldn't take the HD off of the replacement, so I was getting 20GBs HD for free) and this new 120GB runs exponentially faster than my old HD(s).  I know a new HD should run better than one that's already fragmented all to hell but again it's a lot quicker than any of the previous ones I've had for the 360.  All of the games under the game library tab loads within a couple of seconds and I can go from the title screen in Fallout 3 to loading up my current game save in the time it takes one of those loading screen slides to switch.  It's pretty amazing what a difference it made.

I don't even care if loading or whatever graphical issues are improved by installing games. The reason I want this feature is so I don't have to hear the jet-engine that is my 360 while playing games.  It's so, so loud.  Mine also makes this constant buzzing noise.  It's just brutal.  NXE can't come soon enough.
