Played this some on my break; it's actually hella fun.  The new gameplay mechanic significantly changes the strategies (you can make moves that don't make matches now, and there's a new combo mechanic) but doesn't completely make your 'recognition' abilities from having played puzzle quest obsolete.  Definitely worth downloading the trial at least.
