I pick my friend's little sister up from her school nearly every Wednesday, and today while waiting for her in the school parking lot I noticed an older lady struggling the park her car. There was an empty parking slot right next to my car, but it seemed like she didn't know how to park or something. While trying to park she wound up slamming into the car in the far left slot

I thought she injured herself so I jumped out the car to see if I could help her. She got out her car, assessed the damage - a big side dent in the car she hit - stared at me, then pulled out $10 and asked me to keep quiet wtf. I refused to take her money so she threw it at my feet, got back in her car, and drove off. Before she could I memorized her license plate and quickly put it in my phone. Then I wrote it down on a piece of paper and put it in the wind shield of the dented car, with a note describing the culprit as well as her vehicle.
And I picked up the $10...
So yea, did I overstep my bounds or did I do the right thing. IMO if you see a dumbass driver do major damage to another car it's perfectly ok to ensure the person responsible doesn't get away with it. smh
