MGS was my favorite franchise ever. I replayed all the MGS games tons of times. I will never touch MGS4 again. The gameplay is a clusterfuck and the story shits on all the mysteries the previous games setup. MGS3 is still game of forever and MGS4 doesn't exist.

PS3 is great for YAKUZA. Himuro will be happy.

Also Uncharted, Wipeout HD, and it seems like LBP & Valkyria are great. Resistance & Ratchet are pretty good. Hot Shots 5 is awesome but there are a lot of haters. Motorstorm is crap. Heavenly Sword is crap. GT5p is zzzz GT. Warhawk is fun. If you're into baseball people say the PS3 one is AAA.

I think that covers all the exclusives.

You have to play it and you'll probably love it while you're playing it. It's really high budget in presentation and feels like some new genre melding of game+movie interactive media.

It's only when you're done that you'll never want to touch it again and wish it was anywhere near as good as MGS3 in gameplay & story.

There are better games to get for the triple than a metoo game, especially if it's your first. At least get something like LBP or MSG4, something that's unique to the platform.
Rent insomniac games, their mediocrity is not worth buying.
Rent Heavenly Sword, flawed but I liked it a lot.
Buy Motorstorm 2, 1 was amazing but lacked in content and features which 2 probably improved upon.

Not anymore it doesn't. The newly shipped version has the track as an instrumental now, and a patch killed it for those who were able to get it early.

the prologue was awesome because it dwelved into horrible animu trappings that the previous mgs games made tasteful. The rest of the game was shit.

I mean, the best parts of the game were things that were copied straight out of MGS1 & 3.

MGS2 is my favorite in the series, duder. I like how it told a bizarre story in an uncompromising manner. MGS4 goes on to answer the questions of MGS2 with a story and script that even Steven Segal would laugh at before wiping his taut ass with it.

Yes. It's not without its issues, but I loved it. Mind you, I think 3 has better gameplay, but much like MGS1, the story in 3 is so hokey and overbearing. MGS4 is just so uncreative. The answer to everything ends up being nanomachines and AIs, and that doesn't make for very compelling storytelling. They're just shitty plot devices. Even worse, MGS4 is uncreative at length. Those cut scenes are long, and most of them are shameful. I'd say Kojima would make a better movie director, but he's not even so good at putting together cut scenes with polygon dolls.

MGS4 is a strong contender for have the worst ending of any piece of fiction I have ever read or seen, ever. And unlike 1-3 it isn't even fun to do repeat speed/rank runs because of the GOD-AWFUL Act 3. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around how this game could have been created. People always said Kojima need someone to tell him to cut down on his scripts, but this time it seems like his staff was unwilling to tell him to change ANYTHING. sooo bad

Although I definitely find it more overall favorable than TVC did, I would have to agree with his rankings of the chapters, and the story was pretty underwhelming (and I was another person who kinda liked what they did with 2, even with all the nonsense).

I will take flak for this, but rent Heavenly Sword. It is really short and the framerate is choppy, but I thought it was a pretty fun beat em up. Just go in with tempered expectations and turn off the horrendous motion control. Turn off motion control in just about every game that has it, as a matter of fact. It has a nice little (if simple) combat system that is kinda spiffy.

Seriously, it's a great game. The only complaint I'll concede to is about the 3rd chapter, which is the only real low point in the game. But then at the end of Chapter 3 is becomes fuck awesome again.
