Rumor? SFIV PC launching with console versions, RE5 might be too
« on: November 04, 2008, 05:33:17 PM »
I don't think any of this is 100% confirmed, but here's the schedule capcom released to this site:
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/32222/Street-Fighter-IV-dated

Quote
The full Capcom Q1 2009 release schedule reads:

Neopets Puzzle Adventure – Wii, DS, PC – January 23rd
Bionic Commando – PS3, 360, PC – February 13th
MotoGP Wii – Wii – February 20th
Street Fighter IV – PS3, 360, PC – February 20th
Dead Rising  - Wii – February 27th
Resident Evil 5 – PS3, 360, PC – March 13th

not sure how reputable this site is, i'm an amurican and haven't heard of it before.

Anyway, if they do come out day and date, I'd say it's a sign that Capcom has admitted to itself that it completely fucked up the DMC4 PC launch with endless delays, then no advertising.

Makes complete sense seeing as how all of Capcom's PS3/360 new releases also get a PC version now.

The pc version will be the definitive version, since the arcade runs on a pc basically.

yep.  It'll be interesting to see how a fighting game's graphics react to fuckloads of AA and AF...i mean, can it get too crisp? :)

Update: Following a Shacknews inquiry regarding a PC version of Resident Evil 5, Capcom neither confirmed nor or denied its existence.

In its response, the company merely stated that "Resident Evil 5 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will hit retail shelves on Friday the 13, March 2009 in North America and Europe," leaving the door open for a later PC release a la most Capcom PC games.

Launching all their games within a month of each other and then no HD games for another year seems kinda funky.  I would've preferred them spreading the releases out.  I guess Bionic wasn't ready for late summer/early fall release and they want to give SFIV arcade as much time as possible to get those quarters.

when you have a 32" LCD TV in a living room/apartment set up, yeah, it's just fine.  I'm sick of console tards assuming that PC set ups are the same as they were in 1995.  ::)

Nobody, but it'll be the best version and that's what matters.

LOL it'll be the same fucking game on all the platforms.  This is a 720p Type X-2 arcade game and nothing about it should be hard to do on any of the three platforms.  If you REALLY want the best version you'd best be getting yourself a Viewlix Cabinet to play it in, because when it comes to fighting games, the "best version" is the one with the best controllers.

When have capcom's arcade ports all been the same across all platforms?  CvS2, MvC2, all versions of SFA, etc. etc. all have major or minor quirks on consoles.  I guarantee there are differences across all the ports of the game.  You're also wrong about the "best controllers" line, but lets go with it anyway-- I guess the PC version is the best by default since you can use any controller you like.  Thanks for the support lyte :lol

so they're unloading ALL of their 2009 big guns (check that, there's still Dark Void) in Q1?

Resident Evil 5 AND Street Fighter IV AND Bionic Commando.  All within a month of each other, all of which had massive budgets and devlopment time and could easily stand on their own on a month-by-month release schedule.  They're going to just carpet bomb the world with Capcomie goodness all at once?

Really?

I like how you go back 7+ years for your examples.  This is different.  It's Type X. I have played arcade games on both the X and X-2 and own games on multiple systems ported from it.  Unless Capcom themselves are incompetent this is not going to happen.

You are not going to beat the arcade cab.   ::)  But yeah a good custom stick could be made for any platform.  The vast majority of players are going to be playing this on a console however, and if there are any "quirks" those will become the norm.  It's hard to say since just the fact that there are more characters in the game now is going to change things up, plus Capcom's usual home version tweaking.
