Honestly? Its too weird. Maybe its me getting OLD but I like games that arent quite so 'make your own game yuk yuk'. I mean it just doesnt feel like a game, which is fine. I mean it looks incredible and the bit I did play seemed ok, but I just 'dont get it' and maybe 'it isnt for me', I just trolled in the thread title to get responses.

Is it that you don't like the core platformer mechanics or not that you don't like the creation aspect? If its the creation aspect I think the single player and all the community levels will keep you going.  I haven't really built any levels since I bought the game and I still really enjoy it.  If it's that you don't like the core mechanics, then yeah, it's probably a good idea to trade it in or something.

To be honest, I dont like the idea of community in my games. When I play MMORPGs I almost rarely talk to people either. Wtf I just wanna play the game, not participate in some grand experiment.

I am not willing to devote the time to particpate or develop an appreciation for the craft. Its not that im SUPAR BUZY HIGH ROLLAR MAN but I just have too much shit to play and the PS3 just isnt the system i think of when I make time for gaming. I just spent some time going through early levels and it was just me running collecting blobs and going to my room or whatever the shit thats about.

I never played with anyone online... 4 local co-op or bust! nothing beats the hysterical laughs that I have playing LBP with my friends.

is it better than 4 player Gamecube Warioware + drugs? that was pretty hard to top

as much as i liked the community stuff in the beta, i've basically played the retail lbp as a straight-up singleplayer platformer, and uh...it really works on that level. it's actually kind of hard to believe that i'm playing a high definition, high budget, audiovisually stylish 2d platformer in 2008. but i'm sure it'll presently bomb and ensure that nothing like this ever happens again

Uncharted is fun.  It's not Jesus the Game as GAF may make you think, but I think its a solid B/B- game.

I could see B-, I didnt get into it much. I think the only thing that gets me troll-ish about it is people hyping it for its weak points, like its some kind of zen shit.

The worst fake praise people give Uncharted is when they call it a good platformer, or even that it has substantial platforming in it.  I think the praise is it a bit over the top, besides that I liked Uncharted a lot.

Stranglehold is boring as hell.  The gunplay is dull right from the start and the game never evolves.  I got the superior PC version (60 fps) for $5 and I almost feel ripped off.

Auto-platforming is no good....huge turnoff actually.  I'm a little worried about the new PoP game because of that.

As someone who played the beta, but isn't really into community type stuff or has the autistic determination/patience to design his own levels anymore... I was wondering how well the single-player game is. Good to hear that they're fun. Since, a lot of the beta user-designed levels were really shitty. Still not too big a fan of some of the physics and the perspective-switching in the game, but this is still on my radar.

I really enjoyed the demo. I'm running through Resistance 2 first, since it's much shorter than Valkyria Chronicles.

Heh, I have to admit, I prefer the original LBP levels to those that are based on an already existing theme, but that Gradius level really is damn impressive.  I'll have to try this later on.

I think something suffered on the PS3 version because it's really choppy.  I wish I bought it on PC or 360, but I had to have the movie so I waited for the PS3 SE.

something that everyone who bought LBP and tried some user levels should know:

The first pages of the "cool levels" are SHITACULAR! the sorting options and rating system aren't working atm. If you want to check the really good levels, check forums (like GAF's thread) or your friends' hearted levels.

hopefully MM will deliver their promised features that'll resolve this situation real soon.

Yeah, finding levels is a chore right now.

There's still some choppiness in the PC version.  I think it's just due to the engine.

Heh, I finally get to disagree with you on that.  :P  Even on my 8800GT I never ran into a single instance of slowdown.  Was 100% smooth 100% of the time (and I never miss framerate drops).  Of course, anti-aliasing wasn't supported AT ALL, so the game was jaggy as hell.

I have played the console versions (just a bit), however, and I can confirm that both are 30 fps titles.  The PS3 version was actually limited to 30 fps while the 360 version would occasionally spike to 60 (only when standing in empty hallways).  From what I experienced, both versions were generally a stable 30 fps with slowdown at points.  The PC version was much smoother and easier to play thanks to the mouse.  I thought it was pretty damn boring overall, though.  I'm not even sure why I kept playing.  I just assumed it MIGHT get more interesting, but no, it never really did.  Before I knew it, the game was over.  :\

yeah, i just finished 'acing' the game last night, and the last set of story levels is zomg. they're visually bland compared to some of the stuff that comes before, but they're the best pure platforming i've seen in some time -- and they really vindicate the physics and multilayer stuff
