Guilliani...Most Popular Politician In America?
« on: November 27, 2006, 10:41:08 AM »
A bit shocking really. I mean RUDY OVER BILL CLINTON? Quinnipiac did a nationwide poll of former and current political leaders alongside  2008 hopefuls to see how the rank. The number in the parenthesis is how many do not know enough of the person to approve/dissaprove. Meaning while Rudy is #1 it seems basically everyone who knows of Obama approves of him, crazy.

Also lol poor John Kerry.  :lol

Take note that Obama is more popular than the GOP nominee shoe-in McCain

Quote
1) Rudolph Giuliani - 64.2. (9)
2) Sen. Barack Obama 58.8 (41)
3) Sen. John McCain 57.7 (12)
4) Condoleezza Rice - 56.1 (7)
5) Bill Clinton - 55.8 (1)
6) Sen. Joseph Lieberman - 52.7 (16)
7) NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg - 51.1 (44)
8) John Edwards - 49.9 (20)
9) Sen. Hillary Clinton - 49 (1)
10) N.M. Gov. Bill Richardson - 47.7 (65)
11) Sen. Joseph Biden 47 (52)
12) Nancy Pelosi 46.9 (34)
13) Gov. Mitt Romney - 45.9 (64)
14) Former VP Al Gore - 44.9 (3)
15) President George Bush - 43.8 (1)
16) Sen. Evan Bayh - 43.3 (75)
17) Newt Gingrich - 42 (15)
18) Sen. Bill Frist - 41.5 (53)
19) Sen. Harry Reid - 41.2 (61)
20) Sen. John Kerry - 39.6 (5)

In my opinion, Guilliani should not run for President.  This poll clearly shows that his legacy will be that of a hero and he'll always be thought of as THE MAYOR OF THE UNITED STATES and the best New York has ever had.  Why try and fuck up a good thing.

Agreed but if you were him how would you feel? He is more popular than BILL CLINTON. How can't you run? The sad problem is the GOP primary will eat him alive destroying his beloved image.

He's already annouced he is running though, it is too late.

I find it hard to believe that there are that many Americans that even know who Obama is.

Was this a poll of likely voters or just general Americans? Many Americans can't even name the Vice President.

True, but why not use that to get to the highest office in the land? He's a politician, and I'll guarentee that he'll run if he feels he can win.

He'll have little trouble appealing to the more sane parts of the Republican party (IE not the fundementalists) as well as moderate Democrats, especially if Hillary is able to buy the nomination.

Likely voters probably.

Also PD the sane Republicans want a Republican nominee who is pro-gay marriage and pro-choice?

If he IS the nominee he'll win. Independents and lots of Democrats would vote for him. But the primary will murder him.

There are millions of Republicans who couldn't care less about gay marriage. After Bush, many conservatives are going to want to go back to more fiscal government. And if Hillary is the dem nominee, you better believe they'll want Gulianni or whoever is the Republican nominee.

If I was Gulianni I'd do anything I could do to get Hillary nominated :lol

He is fiscally liberal too kiddo. The only thing he is conservative on is guns and being tough.

Rudy is popular for now because the mental picture that most people have of him is what Willco said:  a hero.  Once the campaign honestly starts here in another six to eight months or so, his popularity will begin a steady decline before the first primary vote is even cast.  Rudy is  a bitchy, twice divorced (and one really messy one) Catholic.  Once Dumb America starts finding out about that stuff, he's gonna plummet.

Only for the hardcore political junkies that look like Keith Richards, though.  Dumb America won't start noticing for another couple months after that.

Mitt Romney has already come out with the "McCain and Guiliani aren't REAL conservatives" spiel.

Also, he's a RINO (Republican in Name Only). GOP voters would totally reject him.

He was a Democrat I believe until he had to change to Republican because he lost the primary for Mayor.

Why the fuck is Condi Rice #4? She is such a tool. I cannot stand her.

Romney is the dark horse. He'll either fade away or he will crush McCain. I've got my eye on him.
