COD4 wannabe. Better than the 1st, and looks bloody amazing but i'm disappointed.

The scripted sequences just don't have power to it, the chase sequence they showed in the presentation and shit, sucks dick. Even something as little as a shaking camera when a cutscene shows the end of that scene, i mean, Epic just doesn't know.

Uh no. GOw1 had a couple of scripted sequences, not many, as the design was mostly "room, room, room, room" and so on type of thing.

GOW2 bets much much more on these scripted action setpieces, much like COD4, but it doesn't quite live up to COD4's scripting quality.

It's good, mind you, but it just could've, and should've been better.

I'm confused what you mean by this.  CoD4 is all about dumb respawning clones in infinite supply trying to inhibit you from getting from point A to point B.  Gears has some respawning but it's all about closing up the emergence holes while fighting in set pieces made to provide lots of cover.

not to mention that one is a fast paced FPS and the other is a strategic TPS

I'm picking this up early tomorrow.  I liked Gears 1 for the multiplayer (I thought single player was just alright, even in co-op) and it sounds like the multiplayer is now going to be better than before.  I can only hope to be surprised by the single player this time around, but all I've seen has been mostly the same stuff again.  I probably will play horde mode first since that sounds like the best addition to the game.

You can't even really compare the two games.  One is primarily a SP FPS the other is primarily a co-op TPS.  Both Gears 1 & Resistance 1 rocked, no reason the sequels both won't.

You keep talking about MGS4 and Halo 3/Cod4 in the same breath, as if. That game sold like 1 million at best in the 1st month. Gears 2 is gonna trounce that shit. People on my friends list that don't spend their time on message boards like us losers, are hyped as hell for Gears 2.

MGS4 sold like shit but the launch mania was crazy just like the Halo 3 launch or an FF launch.  People were camping out for that shit.

Gears 2 will sell millions of copies no doubt.  Probably will sell 5x Resistance 2 at least.  But then again so will Fallout 3.  I think R2 will sell about the same as R1, probably a 1.5 mil at the end of the year.

I'm not sure it needs the marketing, to be honest. The first one was a success with very little in the way of market backlash, so all they need to do is remind people that the sequel is coming. Marketing costs a lot of money and resources, which is probably better spent on projects that need the marketing push to sell. Honestly, I think Halo 3 was far more dependent on "hype," due to somewhat mixed opinions of elements in Halo 2.
