How much would all those games cost if you buy them on the Wii's Virtual Console?

Hells-Fucking-Yeah!

although most of these have already been released in past Sega compilations.  And there seems to be a dearth of shooters, c'mon, no Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, really?

What the hell, I'm still buying the shit outta this.

I'm just glad they're not skimping on the collection by putting like five games on the disk and calling it "Volume #1".

Still, my favorite Genesis game was Contra: H.A.R.D.C.O.R.P.S.

Konami, can you please put this masterpiece on XBLA/PSN???

:bow :bow2

That's still hands-down my favorite Contra game. Wolfman all the way.

That is a pretty ballin' collection.  I'll pick it up unless something goes terribly wrong.

And I just realized that I could use my saturn controller to play it on the PS3.

50 / 1000 for Retail

10 / 250 for Arcade

Then again, ACDC Rock Band is 250, and that's sold as a retail disc

Here's a crazy thought, what if some of those as of yet unlockables were just straight ports of some of Sega's recent Sega Ages line.  The ones they made after splitting from D3, the arcade perfect/revamped PS2 versions of Panzer Dragoon, Dynamite Deka/Die Hard Arcade, Dragon Force, Virtual On, Fighting Vipers, Galaxy Force, Space Harrier, After Burner, etc.

There's buttloads of already-done console ports and remakes that Sega has that haven't yet seen the West.  Is it crazy to think they may utilize some of their nifty back catalog, as long as their already ROM-dumping with this package?

Boy, I sure hope so.

"Mega Drive Collection filter can be turned off, say Sega

Sega has confirmed that the 'smoothing' filter that has been seen applied to classic games in screenshots of the upcoming Mega Drive Collection will be optional.

Speaking to RPGSite, a Sega PR representative confirmed that the filter which proved controversial with fans would be optional. "I’ve had confirmation that the filter can indeed be switched off," Martin Snelling of Sega UK told us. "And the games will display at whatever ratio your console is set at – 4:3 or 16:9. If playing in 16:9 the game will fit and not have black borders at the side." he added, confirming another feature that will please fans."

I'm worried about a lot more than the optional blur-o-vision. Backbone/Digital Eclipse have shown repeatedly that they are awesome at finding ways to mess up emulation.

hey now, Digital Eclipse were the dudes who did the very stellar Capcom Classics Collection 1 and 2, as well as Sega's very good Sega Genesis Collection.  All of those guys are now at Backbone.  There's no reason why we won't be getting fully accurate ports outta this package.  They've done it before, I expect not even the PS3's arcane architecture can stop them.

Digital Eclipse were also the dudes who butchered Phantasy Star Collection on GBA, with a bug where the game had a 20% chance of crashing if you tried to save in PS1.

I can just hook up my laptop with S-Video to a TV and just play there.

Wake me up when Sega begins Model 2/3 compilations.  Rehashing Genesis shit should have died with last generation and the Game Boy Advance.
