Great movie, excellent music, I'd actually buy the soundtrack to sing along to. Now with this and High School Musical 2, I officially like musicals.

Discuss.

Watched it on HBO too I take it?

It was alright. A bunch of the songs sucked ass and the ending was lame.

the ending was lame.

Yeah, a little to abrupt. Another 10-20 minutes to wrap everything up would have been nice. I still liked it though. Oh, and there was some gratuitous cleavage.

Yeah, a bit more closure would've been nice. I never knew Helena Bonham Carter was so....bountiful.

I haven't seen the movie version.  was the ending the same as the musical?

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Sweeney throws Mrs. Lovett into the oven, Toby throws Sweeney into the oven, then there's a reprise of the opening?

spoiler for movie ending

spoiler (click to show/hide)
the opening is cut so it's not reprised. Sweeney throws Lovett into the oven, Toby cuts Sweeney's throat (it is implied that Sweeney knows this is going to happen and lets him), movie ends. more or less the same.

Sondheim rules and the songs rule. This movie rules.

I was a bit bummed initially by the computer generated London shots but by the end omg. Awesome movie, awesome song.

I went in knowing nothing about the play. Being an uncultured bastard has its benefits :bow

Saw the play, but I've never seen the movie because I hate Tim Burton.

Great movie, despite my open loathing to Helena Bonham Carter.

The movie does a terrible job at introducing her though, whatwith the worst song in the movie. Could barely make out what she was saying.

Same here. I really enjoyed it.

I felt the same way. All I could make out was "worst pies in London" which I believe is actually the name of the song lol.
