A dude from IW sent me a free copy of COD4 so there's no way I can hate. Actually I liked COD4's single player... love it when games are short and to the point. But the respawning enemies were distinguished mentally-challenged and I wasn't terribly into the multi.

The last good CoD campaign was CoD2.  CoD4 was close but the almost infinite respawn points where you sit and camp and shoot each time a new wave comes out made a lot of the levels weak.

MP on the other hand was excellent in CoD4.

I might play CoD5 down the line since I like the franchise.  I mean at least it sounds like Treyarch learned how to copy IW, something they completely failed to do in CoD3.

Yeah COD runs on scripted events so you basically have to constantly push forward to trigger the wave to stop

There should be an achievement for killing more people in the single-player campaign than actually died in all of WWII.

1st part in the Pacific is okiiish, nice visuals imo.

But the game really delivers when it starts the russian campaign, rips off Enemy at the Gates and never lets go until the loading screen.

seriously what the fuck was going on in that zombie match?  i don't understand the money/points system. is the goal to just survive as long as possible or to rack up points and only repair when you're desperate?

You kill zombies and repair the walls to earn points, which you use to buy weapons or replenish ammo

The point is to survive as long as you can

Because you can get an idea of how you'll feel on a game by the taste of the people who like/hate it.

Case in point, I thought CoD3 was awful and a complete farce compared to the IW CoD1/CoD2.  Probably the worst FPS I've played this gen, although I haven't played PD0.  If CoD5 is agreed to be worse why would I even want to give it a shot?

The grenades are SO ridiculous... fucking hell did anyone think while developing or testing this that this was remotely fun? It was bad in COD4 but Treyarch just amps it up. There are times when literally like 4 grenade symbols appear at once. WTF

I'm almost done, have like 4 more levels.

Yeah it's shit.  I played about 15 minutes of the first level on Normal difficulty.  I seriously died 5 or 6 times b/c of grenades.  With no warning.  I'd see the indicator just as it blew up.  Or there would be 3 grenades and nowhere to hide.  Fuck that.  I set it to easy just to finish it.  They really need to ditch the respawn fountains and super linear gameplay.  I know that's what CoD is, but it's starting to wear thin.

The only nice thing about the game is the presentation.  The between missions movies are really slick.  I think they need to ditch the "dedicated to the memory of WWII vets" talk.  That shit was always disingenuous anyway, but the rock anthems and melodrama are too much.  Just admit WWII is/was a cool setting for a game, and give me Wolfenstein!

I also recently played 007 QoS.  Treyarch deserves all the bad things people say about it.  Bond game looked like an upgraded Wii game, and played like "My first FPS" for the waggle crowd.
