also where the hell do I buy reeds in Portland?

this whole Obama victory thingy has left me feeling really disoriented.  I don't know what attitude to take toward the new administration.  With Bush it was fairly straightforward, they were dumbass war criminals etc., but with Obama my Marxist, liberal, anarchist and conservative sides are all pulling me in different directions and it's literally giving me a stomachache.  I honestly think this is actually at the root of my depression.  This week since the election has been as miserable as any week ever in my life, even though nothing objectively bad has happened and I've actually been relatively productive at work.

You need to find some hot, drunk girls and go make your move. It's more important for them to be drunk than hot, though.

interesting. I've felt a weird weight is temporarily off my shoulders since he won.  People seem to be all smiles here...though I live in a liberal academic beehive, so it's to be expected (Madison, wi.)a I'm wondering if the music I've been listening to over the past eight years is all dark and gloomy because I was hopeless about the world political situation..perhaps in a subconscious way (since I didn't actively think about politics from about 2002-2008.) that sounds a little (very?) stupid, but honestly, I'm just intrigued by what the world's cultural output in the years 2000-2008 will reflect in retrospect.

Since Bushco was so shitty, I'm nothing but excited, though my expectations will be met if he just helps the economy a bit and doesn't start any new wars.

I guess I got so used to being depressed over the world situation that it's depressing to not be depressed anymore, if that makes sense.

actually, it's more like I'm just really nervous.

it looks like there was once a nice music shop just a block from where I now live, but it must've gone under a few years ago.  I've been using the same reed on clarinet for something like two years (and it was my grandfather's before that) but I just broke it last week.  Also I need a saxophone cleaning widget.

I haven't hit up many of the bars down there, but the Doug Fir is pretty cool in Portland.

Yeah, I went to a couple of my friends' bands' shows there.

I saw Stars there a few years ago. Good times.

Have you ever heard of the Builders and the Butchers, btw?
QED

Yeah, I saw them at the Crocodile a couple years ago.

They were my next-door neighbors for a while.  I was surprised to see them listed in the favorites section of a bunch of OKCupid profiles from outside Portland, didn't realize they were famous (among a certain crowd I guess)
QED

They've opened for the Decemberists, so I'm sure that's helped.
