I was going to rent it today since Mirror's Edge wasn't in yet but decided not to. I'll have to get it Saturday if I get Mirror's Edge tomorrow since I'll finish that in one sitting.

Dude, it's the best racing game to come out of 2008. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will top this...

I got it since I had about $200 credit left at EB. it's sitting in it's shrinkwrap now for the 3rd week straight even though I want to try it. TOO MANY GAMES

no it isn't.

it's technically accomplished but it's still an open-plan street racing game, i.e. boring. There is a reason why real racers do it on tracks! Wide streets with 90-degree corners and no elevation changes are just dull, unless you know the 'hood. I can't be bothered learning all of fucking LAs roads just to beat the AI using short cuts. I'd rather learn lines and corners and RACE. /grumpy

I've never played MC and the thought of a racing game on the GTA engine scares the hell out of me in terms of driving control/physics.

Evidently the 360/PS3 one is hard as hell? The PSP one is fun because of Bullet Time and taking perfect 90-degree corners at 150MPH when you press the O button.

360 one has bullet time and an EMP blast. Edge sez the AI gets very cunning later on, trying to share you from it's slipstream or block boosting.

The cops are pretty annoying though, and it's relatively easy so far. I can see a huge spike in difficulty or no variation in racing could make this pretty boring

I don't think I put that much time into it, but I'm at 90 percent complete. I shelved it for now until the South Central DLC pack comes up.

Well I kept doing random races trying to get the last champ to show up. You need to to complete a certain amount of races for each type. So I kept doing all these races and all I need to do was something speciifc, can't remember but it was one of those doh moments. Also there's a couple of dumb achievements in the game like driving 50 miles on a motorcycle wheelie and 50 miles on two car wheels (yes you can tip your car). Got the motorbike one but ran out of patience on the other. I didn't know about the tipping (using lean) so I got started late on that. If you do it throughout the game as you race you would get it easily.

I completed the main storyline, I just have a few more races to do to get 100 percent.

It's not like GTA. Completely different developer, and UNLIKE GTA, this game FUCKIN' ROCKS. The soundtrack is also

, plenty of variety and something for everyone. I find myself just putting it on "Momy" by SebastiAn over and over again when racing.

I was big on MC3 Dub Edition on PS2; wasn't so enthralled with the choppy PSP version. I've been waffling on MC:LA for ages, and dropping Fallout 3 has not helped me shore up my queue of games AT ALL. :-(

Even so, I will be getting this. How is the online on 360? Burnout Paradise players were surprisingly supportive and polite to online newb players. Is MC:LA similar, or a bunch of ricer wannabes?

Yeah, the South Central map is free, but the South Central race events and new cars are $10.
