It's difficult to say how good the game will be, but I think it's a pretty safe bet that it will be light years beyond Sonic 06.

People are excited that Nintendo Power gave the Wii version the same score as Shadow the Hedgehog, so that's something.

No, it wasn't. The Wii/PS2 versions were basically farmed out to Dimps. Of course, Dimps has actually released better Sonic games as of late than Sonic Team proper. Still, I don't believe the team responsible for Sonic 06 is behind this new game.

That's a bit harsh. The game looks pretty good in stills considering how fast you'll be passing these textures. Honestly, designing the stages for this game seems like it would have been a pretty hefty job as a result of the insane speed they went with combined with the fact that they wanted to maintain visual quality even in stills.

If it turns out to be good, I'll probably just get it when it hits the bargain bins. Someone who might give a glowing review might do that because its the first Sonic that isn't total dog shit and therefore, will overrate it.

It has been humorour watching the posters on gaf trying to claim that the Sonic cycle is "broken" as if proving a joke chart wrong suddenly makes the series not shitty.

That's true. The 360 game is the definite version.

After looking at videos of the Sonic stages, I'm going to have to judge this one myself. I'm picking this up later this week.

One thing I don't get is the complaints about there not being enough "2D" sonic levels. Now, I haven't played a Sonic game in ages, but I remember them being pretty short. From what I have read, once you've finished you can skip the werewolf stuff and just replay the "2D" levels. Sounds to me that those levels are cumulatively about the same length of past Sonic games, so you're basically getting a full "old-style" Sonic padded out with some crap.
