More puzzle games have been released this year, heck, maybe just in the last six months then there were on the real consoles for the entirety of the previous generation.  Its fucking awesome, and there's high-quality puzzle goodness on every system.  Either in standalone console releases, the downloadable services, or both.

Yes, I know that puzzle games were always present on the handheld consoles, and to a certain degree, on the PC.  But man oh man, has the genre exploded in the last couple of years.  There's an embarrassment of riches out there and most of them are 20 bucks or less.  Yeah, I know that shooters are now grimier then ever, and that RPG's have never been less geeky, but man, fucking puzzle games are here and kicking ass.

Hells-Fucking-YEAH!

I don't know about my favourite trend or anything, but those four games are definitely some of my most played of the past couple of years.

I could tell this gen would be awesome for puzzlers when I played Hexic on the 360...I need to play that more often.

wait, I lost it when I got a new HDD and it's not the marketplace...fuck, how do I redownload it?

Hexic is by the tetris guy.  Was hooked to the game at the 360 launch.  it's so soothing.   I've gotta find a way to redownload it...it didn't come on the used 120gb drive I bought :(

Obligatory shout out for Puzzle Fighter HD as well, which I don't play enough.

Puzzle quest is dangerous.

and I'm not sure peggle is even a puzzle game...sure you take an educated shot every once in a while, but Yahtzee said it best- you have to be an expert in chaos theory to make every move count.

Echochrome  :hyper

ok, so it's not really good, but it could have been! If only it wasn't such boring gameplay with great presentation.

Looks kinda shitty though. The puzzling bits don't look as interesting at all.
