Anyone else grab this? My favorite XBLA game was Outpost Kaloki X because I am ADDICTED to B-grade resource management sims. So KfK is right up my alley. It's super-chill, all about resource management and turning some kinds of resources into others (Wood into planks) and the building buildings to make, uh, more resources.
I only put in about an hour, but here's what I'd say:
If you're looking for something Civ-esque, this is not your game. It's pretty shallow. I like being able to task Keflings to do the task I don't want to do and, more, to combine their abilities to maxamize productivity. It gives you broad freedom to arrange them any way you want, so instead of putting Due a&B both to work on gathering wood, you can put Dude A to work on gathering, then dropping it halfway and then having Dude B go to the drop point and take it to town. After ahwile it's fun to step back and watch everyone scurry around doing your dirty work.
However, some points at incredibly obtuse. I built a school which allows me to make Smart Keflings. But what do Smart Keflings do? I have no idea. (It turns out that you need them for another building a way down the org. chart, which is fine, but TELL ME THAT. For a game designed to be family-friendly, I had to go to GameFAQs to find the answer. Something Mom is unlikely to do)
Multiplayer is fun, especially if you get a good group of dudes and you can divvy up the tasks. On the overall, this is fun and chill. I sometimes wish there was more of a sense of progress- Sometimes it feels like you're building shit just to be able to build more shit, not because it actually contributes to anything- but in small 20-30 minute doses it makes a killer XBLA app.
