Yeah, the Pink Floyd thread got me thinking about any modern artists with a robust enough catalog to have to think to pick and rank my top 3 albums from.  Radiohead and Bonnie Prince Billy are the only ones that came to mind, and since I'm fairly confident I'm the only real BPB fan here I went with Radiohead.

Ok Computer
Kid A
The Bends

What say you bitches?

I'm not really a Radiohead fan. but if I had to choose, it would be.

1. Hail to the Thief - I chose this one as #1 because it has connections to good memories and good times.
2. Ok Computer - MTV made this fun for me.
3. Kid A - Same w/ this one.

OK and Rainbows are their only albums that I love all the way through.  Kid A and the Bends are both really good also, but A feels a bit too long and Bends has some songs that I think just suck.  I'd still probably pick Bends as my #3 though.

@ Positive Touch, which Bends songs are you talking about when you say the album has a few that suck? I'd guess Sulk and Bones, right?

Bones is a pretty good song

i dont like sulk or black star, mostly

In Rainbows is like that weird stepson of an otherwise average family who grows up to be a faggot tramp stranded out in the middle of Las Vegas. It's super trashy; easily their worst album.

OKC, Amnesiac and HTTT.  aka the 3 I've heard in their entirety, though I think I've heard most of Kid A and Rainbows at various coffeeshops.

Everything after those two are pretty average. Never got the OK Computer love.

1. Ok Computer
2. Kid A
3. The Bends
3. In Rainbows

It's tough, because I really like In Rainbows but I'm still not sure if it's better than The Bends or Kid A yet.

After thinking for it a bit, I'd put In Rainbows over The Bends. I love The Bends but it's full of songs I'm kinda meh on. In Rainbows, however, I can listen all the way through.

Kid A is really good. What didn't you like about it? It took me a few listens to really get into it, but once I did it basically became my soundtrack to EVERY THING I DID.

I don't actually remember it at all.
That period of Radiohead between OK Computer and In Rainbows was pretty grim, and is locked away in the deepest recesses of my mind. But everyone seems to rate Kid A so I'll give it some more listening in the near future. Amnesiac was total turd though. I've never heard a kind word about that album.

Actually, I'd put that above In Rainbows and The Bends. I really like Amnesiac. Your milage may vary and all, though.

There's some really great songs on there, too - Dollars and Cents, Life in a Glasshouse, Like Spinning Plates. I don't know how it's become the red headed step child of the Radiohead catalogue.

That should clearly be the Pop is Dead single.

I'm not that big an Amnesiac fan, aside from Pyramid Song. The rest of the songs just don't really do it for me. I knew a girl who told me it was her favorite album, so maybe I need to listen to it in the right mindset.

Amnesiac's my favorite too.  We should talk.  Do you have her number?

I love Amnesiac...  Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, I Might Be Wrong, Knives Out, Like Spinning Plates (though the live piano version is better), Life in a Glass House: all great songs to me.
The Kid A/Amnesiac b-sides are fantastic too.

And the cover GG posted is great :bow
They did a great Ceremony recently too:

Yeah, I adore that cover.  Ceremony is actually sort of the last JD song, if I'm not mistaken.  It just wasn't recorded before Ian's suicide... so it ended up being the first New Order one.

:shh I know I'm in a minority about this too, but to me The Eraser is better than Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief and Pablo Honey.

Good lawd Groo, I would rank those three albums in the EXACT OPPOSITE ORDER.  Consider yourself uninvited from the Triumph 2008 Christmas party.

Groo, are you the type that gives final verdicts after like one listen? Listen to Kid A more. Maybe you'll "get" it. It's much less about the lyrics - well, that depends on the song, and more about the beat in a lot of cases for me.

National Anthem, in particular, is fucking amazing. That bass. THAT BASS.

1.Kid A - It's the Album that got me into radiohead I remember dowloading it off napster back in the day, then bought the CD the day it came out. I Was so happy when it made it too #1 in America.

2.Ok Computer - I like it only slighty less then Kid A.

3.In Rainbows - Even though it's been out for only a year, I've listened to this album all the way through more times than any other album in my life.

The Others:
The Bends and Amnesaic are great albums with some shitty songs on them.

Hail to the Thief - It was a big disappointment for me back when It came out but I've grown to like it.

Pablo Honey - Horrible, but the Anyone Can Play Guitar video is so awesome.
