Thanksgiving Vacation has begun! WHAT ARE U PLAYING?!
« on: November 27, 2008, 12:08:47 PM »

1.) Last Remnant: Better than reviews let on.
2.) Naruto: The Broken Bond: OMG fun- a little over halfway through.
3.) Valkyria Chronicles: Best game on PS3
4.) Wrath of the Lich King: Grinding rep and rest exp with my 68 hunter.
5.) Luminous Arc 2: While it does some things better (stylus controls, additional guild quests) it does some things not as good (story). It pretty much breaks even with the original imo. Then again some mechanics in the first game werent revealed until you were halfway through.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam

Probably not going to buy another game until I get the 100,000 kills achievement.  I still have another 7 characters to beat on Original and about 65,000 more kills to go.

For kill grind I was doing Heero at level 30 in a level 10 ZZ Gundam in mausoleum level on HARD and got 1100-1200 kills every 15-18 minutes. Not sure if there is a faster map for grinding.

found a good competent guild (kinship) and am having a blast.  we're all around the same level so we're doing all the story stuff together and helping out on the group quests.

this game is hella fun when you don't have to worry about having to beg people to do the storied instances with you.

Spider-Man Web of Shadows...actually not that shitty
might begin to play L4D (I don't know why I haven't started after loving the demo too much, I guess I want to play all the backlog games first)
Probably finishing Fallout 3

I tried sitting down and playing Naruto PS3 but the story mode is so boring that I just don't want to play it.  The fighting is really awesome and it's amazing to look at, but dammit I don't want to fucking collect scrolls or stupid bugs or flowers or other shit just let me fight enemies you assholes, fuck.  but it looks so good.  I might pick up Broken Bond, I'm probably going to try the demo again to see if I can remember why I slightly enjoyed the first one.  The fighting is just so  :-\

Web of Shadows is actually one of the funniest recent games I've played if only for how dumb everything is.  It's like, you randomly go to the hospital to drop of Mary Jane, then all of the sudden these two gangs roll up and start having a turf war in front of the hospital, then some doctor tells Spider-Man to go beat them up.  Then Luke Cage just bursts in out of nowhere to help me beat up these guys.  Right after this he just starts there for me to go accept a mission, and since there are random crimes everywhere, one pops up right next to where he was standing, yet he just chills there as these guys are shooting up the hospital again.  Then you go and accept his mission and it tells you to go meet Luke Cage WHO YOU JUST TALKED TO AND IS STILL STANDING THERE, so you swing across the town and then he runs from behind a building to teach you a new move using your webbing that he just happens to know because he's a black guy with his name on his belt.  And the game starts off with Spider-Man randomly going up to people and yelling "WHERE'S MARY JANE" before running away before they give an answer.  At least the fighting is fun.

Fallout 3 tonight, then system linking horde mode in Gears 2, CoD 5, and Left 4 Dead all weekend.

Horde mode is going to be interesting, because we'll all be drinking as we play.

I'm getting really bored of Spider-Man fast.  It's like they have been by doubling or tripling segments for the sake of making them longer.  The dumbest so far was having to take out all these snipers by pressing y about 40 times, then Spider-Man (who I'm pretty sure has leprosy) says something like "who are these guys" before having to do the same thing again in the same areas on the same roof tops that wre just empty.  Then the black cat battle was even worse because you beat her up, then she apparently gets several miles away after falling down a building, so you swing over there and spider-man kicks her off a roof before realizing he has to save her, so he catches her in mid-air and she is offended by this and slaps you before running away (this is all QTE btw).  And after he slap, she somehow appears to get several miles away from you again, so you swing over to her again and she's just hanging on some patio like she's not a crazy bitch, then she talks about how she wants to have sex with spider-man before kissing him randomly before a choice pops up to be either good or bad; I chose good so Spider-Man just leaves.

The combat is still pretty fun in a ridiculously stupid way.  You just press X and he does a flurry of punches and some how is flying through the airs by just doing these crazy kicks and shit.

I took a break from Fallout 3 to play Dead Space.  FO3 is awesome, but it's so large that I've been playing it for weeks exclusively and I'm still nowhere near finished (just left Rivet City).  I'm also playing some Elite Beat Agents on the DS, which is alright even though the level with the ninja kid is totally shit designed by assholes.

What I've done over the course of the past few days:

* 1000'd Mirror's Edge - awesome game, but not $60. Don't do time trials/speedruns if you hate getting pissed off.

* Tried to no avail to play Banjo online. Again.

* Dabbled in Sonic Unleashed. Pretty good. Will beat it, probably not to 1000, depending on difficulty and time consumption.

* Hopped on GTA4 online and got 4 quick multi achievements. Done with that turd.

I'm running through Persona 3 FES again, trying to finish up with The Answer.  I'm psyching myself up for getting Persona 4.

Apparently I'm getting an HDTV for Crimmus, so I guess I'm going to trade in all of my old shit for a 360.  When it happens I guess I'll make a thread asking for recommendations.

Oh man, we goin' way off topic here...

I've been playing "getting packed up to get the FUCK out of here," (two more days! :hyper) and in-between that bouts of SSF2T HD Remix.  I wanna delve more into Chrono Trigger DS and the AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME HOLEE-SHIT DID I MENTION IT WAS AWESOME Musou Orochi 2 PSP port, but I might just save those for the hours waiting at the airport monday and the long-ass plane flight.

I hope so!   :lol

Yeah, she's the reason why it took this long to get out of this shitty house and town.  The process of getting her a U.S. visa took months.

Wait, I thought if you married a foreign woman, she would get U.S. citizenship automatically. You're saying that this isn't so?

This could really complicate things with my current girlfriend.

If you could get it automatically, don't you think a lot of people would be committing the ol' marriage fraud thing to get to the States?  You have to apply for a marriage visa.  It's an overall easy process but it takes time and there is a lot of paperwork/getting ready, plus multiple trips to the U.S. embassy.  We were married for over a year when we applied, and it took us about three month to get everything finalized.  You need to basically prove that your marriage isn't a sham (evidence like joint bank accounts, bills paid together, dated photos of you two together over time, etc.) and also pay a number of fees (I think it was around $900 U.S. total).  You also need your spouse to get a health check done at a certified location.  And you also need to show your tax statement for the last year and basically prove that you can support her (or get a co-supporter who can do the same)

I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but at the Japan U.S. embassy, if you have any mistakes in your paperwork or you are missing something, they turn you away and you have to make another appointment, and the window for them isn't always close.  I worked with my father on this and we checked and double-checked everything to make sure it was good.  I also needed to have him as a co-supporter, so we needed a copy of his passport...this was was the last hold-up for us.  I almost freaked out when the lady at the embassy told me I needed that; we don't live anywhere close to embassy and had to book trips/hotel rooms in Tokyo each time, so it cost a lot to do everything.  Luckily I was able to mail the copy to them after we went back home.

You can of course keep this going even if you are living apart; once you do your part, it's essentially all on your spouse to finish things up, so a lot of people start the process, return to the States, and then wait for their spouse to arrive.  I didn't want to do this so I stayed here; luckily it was fine since we just lived with her folks until it was all done.

So now it's less than 48 hours until we head to the States; now we are gonna live with my folks, but compared to the shithole I've been in these past five months, it's like going from a shack to a mansion.  It'll be nice to not freeze my ass off indoors too!  :hyper

Lost Odyssey.

I stopped playing it back when NXE was first announced.  I had been having so many problems with the the game freezing up, music would stop playing during battles, dirty disc errors, load times were horrible.  I put the game entirely on hold in hopes that installing the game on the HDD would help a little.

It helped a LOT.  I think this is the one game that benefits the most from installing on the HDD.  No more freezes or odd music cutting out during battles.  No more disc errors.  But the best part has been the load times.  There's practically zero delay going into battles now.  The character info screen that comes up during load times is rarely ever seen anymore.

Oh, and Lost Odyssey rocks.

As soon as I'm done, I'll be sending my copy of LO to ferricide and he'll be sending me Tales of Vesperia.  Looking forward to that.

I got Tales of Vesperia from Gamefly. :hyper :hyper :hyper  I think I'm gonna keep it.  It'll only be 18 bucks.

Finished Devil Summoner 2 at 3am last night (why is that everytime I finish an rpg it's between 2am-5am in the morning?), so will start on Resistance 2 or The Last Remnant (Got it in the mail today.  Yay for UPS delivering on holidays!) today.

Probably going to spend most of the afternoon seeing if I can get the other ending in DS2 (I got LAW, I want to see CHAOS/NEUTRAL) and writing my thoughts on the game out.

That reminds me.  I have to go down to Circuit City and pick up my 2000point card I was supposed to get with Gears2 so I can buy BK.  When I got Gears2 they were out of them and they said they would just ship it to me, but then they called a few days ago and said it shipped to the store and I have to go down there and get it bahhh.

got a couple of pals coming over tonight, we're gonna L4D and RB2 the night away

one of them is an artist, and seemed really interested in LBP when I told him about it, so I'll pop that in for a few so he can check out the creation tools

If spider-man web of shadows had more time in development, it probably could have been the best Spider-Man game.
