A tribute to the Turbo-Grafx 16
« on: November 28, 2006, 02:11:46 PM »

This is for the purpose of telling what games to check out if anf when they hit the Wii's VC.

I will update this as time goes on

Shooters:

Air Zonk: future cousin of Bonk, great side scrolling shooter.

Magical Chase: a rare little game (the card goes for $150 on ebay) another nice little side scroller

Platformers:

Bonk: the mascot for the system, he uses his head (head butting enemies) and teeth (to climb walls) the whole series is solid

Splatterhouse: Excellent version of the arcade game, survival horror before there was such a thing

RPG:

Neutopia: Like Zelda? a perfect ripoff, great games in thier own right, I'm still pissed part III never came out

Dungeon Explorer: Gauntlet with a more flushed out story, good multiplayer fun

I remember seeing Bonk as a kid in Toys R Us, but don't remember playing this thing at all...

Alot of people have not played it, It was my main console in the snes/genny days though, I have 250 games between domestic and import titles.

Still in my top 3 systems ever.

I played the hell out of Bonk, Military Madness, World Class Baseball, and Legendary Axe II back in the day.  Good stuff.

I hope Sega CD games get released.  I want to see if Dark Wizard was actually any good.  I only got to play the game once for a brief amount of time but I lusted over it for a while.

Has it confirmed that Genny, SNES, NES, N64, and TG16 will be the only systems available on VC? It'd be nice if they'd confirm if they're going to get other consoles up on there

I don't know if Nintendo is going to be releasing CD games at all because of their size.

I always sorta wanted to own a TG-16 when I was a kid.  I loved hardware back then, and I still do today.  ;)

I'm happy that I now have the opportunity to buy some of these games on my Wii.  I'm thinking about making Bonk my first game i've ever played from the TG-16.

If they did Mario64 surely they can do Sega CD games? They could compress the audio and evrything would be all good.

Mario 64 fit on an 8 MB cart.  And switching from redbook audio to a compressed format like you seem to be suggesting goes beyond emulation.

I suppose it does. It takes emulation to the next level.

But seriously 8MB? Wow, the more you know I guess. I always thought those N64 games were like 100MB carts or something.

Nintendo always used megabits when describing cart sizes.

There is MagicEngine and Hugo, Hugo is free but kinda shitty.

Magic Engine rocks, the only emulator I have ever paid for, has cd support and just emulates pretty perfectly
