Author Topic: Help me pick my next next gen game purchase (Read 5343 times)

I'm not sure what next gen game I should get next. I played Mirrors Edge and beat it at my cousin's this week. But that leaves PoP, Fallout 3, Fable 2, TLR, Valkyria, and MGS4.

I'm going to only make two more game purchases the rest of this year: Persona 4 and one more. Cast your votes.

Knowing you I'd go with TLR. Not that I've played more than 5 mins of it yet, but everyone says it's a fantastic jrpg and that's your kind of thing.

Yeah but Himu hated both Romancing Saga PS2 and FF12. Since those seem to be the biggest influences on TLR I dunno if it's a good recommendation for him.

I like any genre though, so that makes little sense. Plus I'm kinda tired of jrpgs. Persona 4 and CT is all I need the rest of the year.

Get Fallout 3, play a real manly man's rpg Himumu. I say this even though I'm really looking forward to P4. When I get my 360 after Crimmus I plan on getting Fallout 3 and Tales of Vesperia.

Question for those who have played Fallout 3. I am a big Fallout 1 fan, how would I like it? Is it true to the Fallout name or is just thrown on the box? I haven't enjoyed a game Bethesda has made yet so I'm wary, but optimistic I'll enjoy it at the same time due to the name on the box.

As for MGS4, well, all the 4's I've played this year unless they're fucking remakes (FFIV, DQIV) have been disappointing. I'm not in a rush to play MGS4 yet for fear it'll turn out like Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Ace Attorney 4.

It has some throwbacks to the earlier games and one recurring character, but it's definitely Bethesda's Fallout 3 so don't go in expecting a similar experience to the previous games. It still suffers from some of the same problems that have plagued past Bethesda games, but it's far superior to Oblivion in pretty much every way.

Don't get Fallout 3. It's an even trashier version of the trashy game Oblivion covered in a thick layer of trashy ho.

It's pretty good. I mean, if you like Oblivion, you'll like Fallout, and if you hate Oblivion, you might like Fallout.

Valkyria is really great though. It has one of the best casts and some of the freshest gameplay in an SRPG...or any RPG...in a while. You really can't differ more than FO3 and VC though.

distant: there's hope. they, for whatever reason, are making an animu and im sure they'll want to tie in another game. and it's kind of ps2+, so if it sells like 400k worldwide it should turn a profit.

I haven't liked an srpg substantially this entire decade. Almost all the srpgs I play that people rave about I have a long list of issues I have with them, particularly Nippon Ichi games, which aren't BAD but aren't really my thing. The one thing that makes me interested in Valkyria is the premise and the people who made the game in the first place. SoA rox.

Valkyria is like Valkyria. It might be a J-SRPG, but I honestly can't think of any single game that it's like.

Part Gears of Wars, part Sakura Wars, parts of some other games, and ALL AWESOME.

guys, i'm thinking of buying ar tonelico

i wouldn't have even noticed it but i stumbled upon a few music clips on youtube while searching for clips of the band the singer for the chrono cross theme song is in, and they're kind of awesome

and i feel somehow obliged to hear the music in its intended context, however icky it may be, because the lead music composer is also the director/scenario writer/lead designer for the game

which makes it a little like wagner in how you may not be crazy about the german nationalism espoused in his operas' plots, but you kinda have to go along with it to get the full experience of his music

is there a support group I can go to
