On June 1, 2006, the word "fuck" began to be censored without any announcement or notification. Members of the forum quickly began to create threads denouncing this new policy and the series of events that had led up to it, such as the end of "fap" threads where pictures of scantily-clad women were posted and the mods/admins of the forum gbeing given red names instead of the usual blue. The aftermath can be seen in this thread. The apparent compromises in the face of advertisers seems to be disheartening to many members of the forum.

As a result of these many changes, and a apparent lockdown on so-called joke characters and forum personalities by numerous mods, Evilbore (poking fun at the name of a NeoGAF admin Evilore) was created. Funded solely by the poster Willco, formerly known as Lord Federman, the forum allows personal attacks of a non-racist nature and cursing. There looks to be a bright future for the forum, as it is moving to a dedicated server as of August 1, 2006.

After a last ditch effort to go out with a bang, MAF was ultimately (and many say unjustly) silenced when the administration banned his account indefinitely, then went back and deleted any trace of the infamous poster's account and posting history. These days, many regard MAF as a pure myth grumbled by the downtrodden contributors to the forums in an effort to confront the questionable practices of the forum's administration. He has become much like the community's own Che Guevara, a shadow of truth and justice in a land of poor and downtrodden dreamers.
