I was hoping I'd do a bit better, but for my first time I'm pretty damn pleased with myself.

Well as long as you get a lot of words in you'll be all right with the writing test.

I took the SATs for the last time in 2003, and I always said I'd take them again to see how much better I'd do with the writing component. I decided against it though because ETS already has shitloads of my money, from taking the SATs 5 fucking times in high school, then $140 for the PRAXIS 1 that education majors need to take (I'm psych now, but I was early childhood ed and elementary ed).

But yeah, my math was a 570 and my verbal was a 580. Yet my GPA at graduation was a 3.833 with AP classes and without even trying. Hm.

Can you tell I dislike standardized testing a great deal?

We totally need to get away from the SAT, not add sections to it.

PS. Shake, you can always learn the tricks to improve on the math, but your verbal and writing are good IMO!

Not to mention, I'm pretty sure there have been studies done that prove that teenagers test better later in the morning/early afternoon. Like it'd be more beneficial to have the exam at 10 or 11am than 7 or 8am.

as it stands, I have a good chance of getting into the LI or Saratoga Empire State Universities, which offers a substantial film course.

A good friend of mine graduated with a ridiculous 2.4 GPA and a 1540 SAT.

You could probably go to a lot of state schools with that GPA.

I graduated high school with with a 3.8 GPA and got a 29 on my ACT. I probably could have gotten into almost any college I wanted to. I could have gone to Ohio State, instead I went to Wright State because I started school as a Theatre major and they have the 5th best theatre program in the nation. I only stayed that major for one year....I wish I would have done Anthropology and went somewhere else. Or marine biology...
