There's a few games that have the pop-ups in odd places. I think PGR3 did as well.

It's passable. Looks brilliant in some parts, but other bits seem a little rushed. I think some of the early screens were very kind.

I hate how the controls are so delayed, its like its deliberate control lag. I mess up a jump and suddenly I'm mashing buttons hoping I can save myself.

I am trying to blitz it for the speed demon achievement while going for the "dont fall 100 times" one.

I love how you run up a huge long stretch of wall (Green Power), only to run into a tentacle, and have to start all the way from the start. Yeah, love it~

Game is poop. Did I say this game would be good? Because I feel embarassed to ever make those posts.

Not yet... need to do the speedruns (not the 12 hour one), and about 100 more seeds

It's an alright game.  Definitely better than the last two, but nowhere near the quality of Sands of Time.  Its very pretty looking, and has some really cool acrobatics.  Story is poop, Prince is poop, and the game is super repetitive, but its still decent.

This game is only $30 at play-asia right now.
Is it worth it? Would you say it's better or worse than Assassin's Creed?

No, it's fucking awful. Unless you want a quick 1000 gamerscore, but hopefully you are above paying for Gamerscore  :-\

I got this in the Steam sale, got the PoP pack.  Playing with my wired 360 controller, just started it yesterday.

I'm really enjoying it :wtf  Just got my second magic plate power activated.
Might as well beat this before I play the supposedly superior earlier games.  I had played Sands of Time back on the Gamecube but never beat it.

SoT is one of the best games ever.

This PoP was way too easy for any money to be sent on it other than a week rental.

A friend is lending it to me soon; I'm happy to get it for free, though I was about to avail myself of the cheapy special at Play-Asia.

Prolly pick up the weekly special Naruto: Broken Bond instead now.

I liked Assassin's Creed better overall, but Prince of Persia does the OCD collection thing much better (collecting light seeds is much more fun and useful than collecting flags).

Despite what demi says, I've enjoyed my time in PoP and look forward to finishing it up soon.  To enjoy it, you just have to get used to the slightly mushy controls.

Um.. light seeds are detrimental to the flow of the game, and once you collect enough, the rest of them are as useless as the flags. They're shit

Only if you want the game to be one big speed run.  I like the game best after I've cleaned up and area and get to take my time exploring it for the seeds.  I don't like to constantly be in a rush, which is why I'm doing the 12 hour run on my second playthrough (which is also the one where I'll get saved less than 100 times).

The huge difference between light seeds and flags is that you have to collect over half of the light seeds to complete the game.  You can complete Assassin's Creed without collecting a single flag.  Plus, the flags are just randomly placed inside of huge, fairly empty environments.  Once you've found all of the light seeds in an area, you have essentially explored 100% of that area.  You can collect all of the flags in AC and still only see a fraction of the game world.

I want my OCD-ness to be rewarded with something other than an achievement.  GTA3/VC/SA always handled this perfectly with the tangible rewards for finding the hidden packages.  I want something like that or level-ups to my character (like Crackdown) as a reward.

And it's not like the bare minimum light seed hunting in PoP takes you off the main game path for more than a few minutes at a time.

I don't think you really have OCD :wag

Tell that to my wife when she puts something where it doesn't belong in our house...

I'm not seriously OCD, but I have a tinge of it, which is more than enough to impact how I live my life and how I play my games...

I know.  It's not ideal either.  But I disagree that it impacts the flow of the game.  You can fly right through the game while barely going off the main paths and collect enough light seeds to beat the game.  It only impacts the flow if you are achievement hunting or just have to get them all.

I played GTA IV for around 60 hours, I think. Mushy controls are my speci-al-ity.

Along these lines, is anyone else getting sick of "hey, replay the game" Achievements? This PoP less-than-12-hrs is one; the GTA IV less-than-30-hrs is another. I also was not fond of replaying BIOSHOCK again to get the Brass Balls Achievement, which would have been crazy hard to get on the first run.

Yeah, I know I'm a scrotum for complaining about Achievements, but if they're there, I'm going to try for them. I just wish they were fun.

Who said you have to replay the game for these? I got both on my first run.

Truly your e-peen is flonkingly massive.

I've heard that argument before, but it's a choice of playing on the hardest difficulty from the get-go WHILE trying to explore every nook and cranny, or playing on the arguably "optimally balanced" version of the game for the details, and then giving it another go on INSANE.

There are some good examples, like Halo 1 -- Legendary difficulty is famous for being FUN to play through, and challenging in a new way. Then there are games which just turn the player weapon damage and HP down, and the enemies' up, and call it a day. BIOSHOCK was one of those. Those are less fun. And DEAD SPACE doesn't even unlock the highest difficulty for that Achievement until it has been completed once.

BioShock is extremely broken, so difficulty is not even an issue. Bonk bonk with the ice wrench, you win

The same applies to Dead Space. The default gun is the best. DONT BLAME THE GAME CUZ U SUK

No, I suck because I get scared when playing Dead Space. That's a different problem.

Bioshock was loads of fun, but ZAP/WRENCH did seem to be the only needed solution in the game.

I've played a couple of hours of this and so far I'm not impressed. You do the same shit over and over again in every location, there really isn't that much variation in the platforming. Wall run, grab ring, jump, slide x 1000. Then you get these 'special' powers, only to find out all of them are these fly/teleport buttons that add nothing. The game is a looker and the combat is pretty good, but that's about it.

oh and god the delay in the controls is sooo annoying. it took a while before i got used to it

ubisoft, fooled me again

Just beat it... I liked it pretty well over all.  The gameplay got a bit old about halfway through and some parts of it are lamer than others.  But I dunno, I still liked it.  Maybe it was just the art and graphics, but it's not a bad game to take for a spin every now and then, as I did.  I also enjoyed the characterizations quite a bit.

I liked the end too... a lot.  Though not the poopy boss fight(s)  :-\

I played the $10 epilogue today and it was really good!  Even though I wasn't a big fan of the main game, the epilogue cuts out most of the fillerish padding of the main game and instead for $10 you get:

-A great length that's about 20% length of the main game
-A good level of challenge that's still kinda easy but not enough that you don't feel satisfaction
-Some ok, been-there-done-that, boss fights, and then one fun boss
-More of the original's excellent excellent excellent writing and voice acting
-A cool looking new color pad even if it adds nothing new gameplay-wise
-A good lead into the sequel

What's bad is:

-There are still puzzles, but they are super short and brainless
-The green pad is still kinda too tight in timing compared to everything else in the game
-The blobs need to not be in the next game

But overall that was one of the best DLCs I've played this gen.  I thought it was going to be more of a "worth $5, but they charge $10" thing that lasted an hour and was meh, but it took me about 2-3 hours and was really enjoyable.  I'm actually sorta looking forward to the sequel now.

Would recommend unless you hated the original with a passion.

Well I guess it comes down to personal taste, but the writing and voice acting was one of my favorite parts of PoP.  Sure the prince didn't have an Arabian voice, but I thought he was a really likable character and the girl played off him well.  I'd always keep hitting the talk button to make sure I'd seen all the conversations between the two.  I thought their conversations were really fluid and fun.  Reminded me of skits in the Tales games that are used to build character.  It's nice having leads that aren't meatbags.

The plot is lol, whatever and I'm not trying to say that is any good.  But I really like the character dialogue between the two.  Videogames have such poor, poor writing that it's nice to get witty movie-ish conversations.  The prince reminds me of a good saturday morning cartoon hero.  I thought the actor was great in Uncharted as well, creating another very likable hero.
