Go SF:Anniversary!  Man, CvS2 should be on that list.  If I had an Xbox, I'd play that all the time.

I'm surprised that COD5 got so popular, so fast.  Wow.

Great showing for L4D, as well.  It's looking like it sold a lot better than most people anticipated, probably even better than Orange Box sold last year.

And minus modern weapons.

I'm just surprised because it seemed like so much of the COD4 community was anti-COD5 until it came out, when most of them dove right in.

Web of Shadows is the best Spider-Man game, then Ultimate Spider-Man, then Spider-Man 2.  Spider-Man 2 has the best swinging tho.

Spider-Man 3 was by far the worst. The second one isn't so great in retrospect, but the third one is just fucking awful.

Best part about Spider-Man 3 was being able to slingshot across the city, but they manage to fuck that up by having those spots hidden

Spider-Man 2 has the best swinging, Ultimate has the best style/story, Web of Shadows has the best mix of combat/swinging/wall crawling.  Swinging isn't as good as SM2, but the combat and walking on walls are much better.

I've actually had a copy of WoS sitting on my desk for review for about four weeks now - I got it the day I sent my Xbox in for repair. Looks like it's coming back tomorrow, so I might actually be able to play it finally. Looking forward to it, actually. I hear the progression is still a bit samey, but it seems like they've made some pretty big steps in actually putting together a solid game, so hopefully the next one will be...god forbid...a really good Spider-Man game.

I'm such a Marvel whore though. I play the games no matter how average they are  :-\

I played it just last week when looking for a good short game to play.  I was expecting it to be really shitty because the reviews scored it below Spider-Man 3, but they are way off.  Biggest problems with it is that some parts of it seem unfinished, which isn't really shocking for an activision game.  The camera and random glitches are probably the worst offenders.  Later in the game you have moments when you would be swinging and Spider-Man would freeze in mid-air, then there is slowdown later in the game and all that.  Also the side mission are now a mix between achievement style stuff and Crackdown.  There are these spider-man tokens around the city that increase your swing speed and health, then there are the option missions which give you a lot of experience that usually break down to killing this many enemies or saving this many amount of people.  The worst is that it will say defeat 50 enemies, then when you finish that it will go straight into saying defeat 100 enemies.  All the option stuff is basically the same and really useless since you will get more experience than moves to actually upgrade.

about the whole story stuff, it's pretty stupid but it does lead to some cool things like
spoiler (click to show/hide)
midway through the game the city goes from being New York from previous Spider-Man games to zombie invested city almost like Dead Rising.  There are times where you can swing down, swing kick a dozen enemies, and just keep on moving to the next location.

The combat is really great though, it's amazing how Shaba finally figured out how to make cool combat in a Spider-Man game.  It's even better because since you have access to both regular and symbiote spider-man, you really have two different sets of attacks that you can use independently or mix up.  You can pull an enemy closer with a tenticle, switch to red and do a flurry of punches, then go back to black to do a power attack and finish them off.  The way they mix the ground, wall, and air combat is also awesome.

Yeah, sounds more or less like I was expecting - they got the combat down, but ran out of time to polish the game's progression and side missions. Hearing interviews with them, it does seem like they're real fans, so with a little more time for the next game, they could pull something really special out.

1    Gears of War 2
2    CoD: World at War
3    Call of Duty 4
4    Halo 3

thought the top 4 would look like this.

edit: i just read that they still haven't fixed the shitty matchmaking in gears 2. no wonder it isn't in the top spot.

btw i rented WaW and got hooked by the MP so i bought it. dunno why since i didn't care for modern warfares very much.

Hm... I think I've got the non-deathmatch, non-race stuff to go. Nobody is ever playing that though. Gah, I can't be bothered... going to toss in Saints 2 or Mercs 2.

The patch fixed the matchmaking, mostly, but the actual game balance in multi is still fucked in many ways.

Eh, my actual online experience with it has been far from perfect, with a majority of games having upwards of 1 second input lag.  I've given up searching for games with tolerable latency.  We need 3S on XBLA with netcode comparable to SSF2HDR.

Local play, though, is  :o :o :o :punch :punch :punch :rock :rock :rock
