Replayed it, now finished both levels. The controls and partner system take some getting used to, but I'm getting there! I hate the no pause inventory though. Selecting herbs or grenades while the chainsaw guy moves towards you is too tense. There's only a quick select for the 2 weapons afaik

Got the files. Played the first part of the demo. Graphics are gorgeous, gameplay is pretty boring especially since there was no level design and you just ran around shooting guys with a boring pistol and a censored shotgun that doesn't decap. Full game should be better...hopefully.

The partner system sucks in 1p. They take your kills. You have to give them ammo. You have to cover them at parts while they do puzzle stuff for you.

Game was obviously made for co-op and the 1p campaign takes a hit because of it.

The real time item menu sucks. Pretty much as bad as it does in IU. Menu is clunky and not well organized.

Demo was a little boring because it was easy. Enemies were slow and you just pop, pop, pop and they're down and then you collect their ammo. Lacked exploration or exciting action.

I don't have a lot of faith in a non-Kamiya/Mikami RE even if it's based on RE4's great gameplay. But the retail game could surprise me.

You only get decaps if there is a monster plant head underneath that replaces the head. You can get those with the pistol as well.

Aiming is not good
Not being able to move while aiming still sucks.
Partner system sucks.
Controls overall are just way too stiff. And the strafing isn't implemented very well

Dead Space plays better.

Back in the PS2 era RE4 was the best playing third person shooter around.

Now-a-days games have done it better. Dead Space included. This demo adds the new controls but it still plays like you're controlling a fucking tank. I had a hard time taking out the big fucker because the controls sucked.

But thats not even the worse thing about the demo. I lost because Sheva died. I don't want to baby sit her. Ever. Fuck that stupid shit.

I played the first part alone, and it was... OK I guess $:-\$

I'm sure once I'm used to the controls I'll get over the slowness and enjoy the actual game design, like with RE4, but Dead Space has raised my expectations for this kind of shooting a bit.
