I don't understand the appeal of Home. I mean, isn't the point of Second Life to have sex dressed as a fox? What are you left with when you take that out?
Well, some people...want to live, virtually, because they don't like reality.
Now, some people, like me, just like to "live" adventures that are impossible in real life, like, for example i would love to throw down a demon concubine bitch with my sword, do impossible levels of parkour in an amazing fantasy scenario, with an interesting chick following me, but that's pretty much impossible to do in real life, so i play Prince of Persia.
But, there are people, whose goals from a virtual adventure aren't that insane, see these people want to live simple adventures like, dressing what they want, look like what they want, own a crib like they want, decorate the crib like they want, go shoot some pool with some friends, pretend that they live normal and happy lifes, because, to them, that's what they don't have in real life.
I guess it all depends from where you start. I guess if you already have certain things, you look for the next set of things, like i do with Prince of Persia, but if you don't, then i guess you start with something like Home, or Second life if you wanna get a bit more freaky.
