If L5 is doing it and they port the VIII engine over and do a fully 3d world map again I'm fine with it being in fugly SD.  If they skimp and the graphics are worse than VIII I'll still enjoy it but fuck SE for being cheapo.

Rpgs are the one genre where I don't think the Wii controls will do much harm.  Considering how DQ is all about old-school nostalgia you'll probably play it with the wiimote turned sideways and just use 1/2 and the back button to center the camera.

Then again I'd be fine with DQ Swords battles because DQ Swords was fuuuuuun.

That's only because Namco dilutes the brand and puts out a dozen Tales games per year.
and given Atlus' recent and successful history on the Wii (Trauma Center and Atlus' sponsored Baroque Wii port) I actually wouldn't be THAT surprised if they ditched the real systems and made some real honest to goodness games for the waggle box.  NIS looks ready to give up the PS3 after one game and they've openly stated they're developing for the Wii.

I've finished to completion DW1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. I've put over 80 hours in DW 7.
I've also finished to completion FF1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2.

DW games are very, very, *very* childlish next to FF games.

I like both series but FF is way better than DW in my experience.

I was wondering why there wasn't a DQX thread here, then I realized that the title was apparently Dragon Quest or something.

Good for Wii I guess, it's not really a surprise and it's better than being on the DS, so it's a losing win, or a failed victory, or better bad than worse.  If it's Level 5 working on it, they can at least make a passable cel shaded game on the system that will look good in the same vein as DQVIII, DC1+2, and RG.

I don't know how much I actually care since I was never a big Dragon Quest fan and I was actually excited for DQ9 more when it was a jappy Diablo instead of whatever it is now, but I'd still play it.  I just hope they don't force poor controls on you, and while that would seem distinguished mentally-challenged to implement motion controls in a traditional j-rpg, I wouldn't put it past developers developing on the Wii -- Classic/SFC controller or bust.

Wii fans have a game to gloat about now, at least their distinguished mentally-challenged fellow mumble mumble speak can have a proper game to back up all the sales mumble mumble.

Why does everyone insist that wii doesnt have an 09 lineup? In all seriousness, it looks awesome.  Long overdue sequels and revivals, new ips from promising developers, motionplus sports games, wiimakes, etc. Unless youre pointlessly boycotting buying games for it due to it being an sd console I dont see the argument. The only concern of mine is I think some games wont be localised for english speaking countries (shiren 3, fragile).

There isn't really a middle ground here tho.  You have people who say it sucks, then you have people who says it's good because of Gamecube remakes and Sonic and the Black Knight.  MadWorld alone makes the Wii worth it in 2009, but really compared to just the exclusive games on the two other consoles it's poor and that's not including the third party games.  I still say that the only ones who lose here are the Wii only fans.
