I assumed Region locked meant that if you downloading it from the Japanese PSN, you couldn't use it on the US PSN. Well, whatever.

You weren't in the older beta, were you? for as shitty as this still is, it's actually a big improvement over the previous version. Old version didn't even have in-game XMB or background downloading.

depends on if they actually implement functionality at one point or not. As of right now there is no way to start a game, get others to join, and play despite that being one of the big features promised. You can't even have you're own TV where you can stream video content or pictures for others to see. Two of the 'big' features that Home was supposed to have are completely absent, and this is a case where they hide behind calling it a Beta so they aren't rushed.

The virtual PSP was worse because it used the XMB menu and it didn't really fit what functions you needed.

Even when they start adding more locations like pointless game themed areas (the uncharted bar is fucking hilariously bad that I almost feel sorry for the people that are into this kind of crap) it's still going to be awful unless you and your friends go out and buy keyboards because communicating with the controller sucks balls. I ran into Eel O'Brian this morning before I went to work and then quickly realized how impossibly lame it'll be to have any sort of conversation going using the dual shock. I just won't even do it. I guess I could use my bluetooth headset but for whatever reason anytime someone uses a headset on the PS3 the sound quality is all over the fucking map to the point that it's completely distracting. I think the best bet would be to meet on XBL and then move into Home while still using the 360 chat. Infact I've already done that a few times myself.

Right now, all I want from Home is the ablity to create a fucking hideous beast of an avatar and then go grief some people and as it stands right now it's pretty limiting in both areas.

Home review in short:

Good: It's decent to get together and meet people who actually own a PS3 to play Resistance

Bad: No customization options, hardly any free default shit, fucking buggy ass servers, lifeless looking characters, queues for fucking BOWLING for christsakes, hardly ANYTHING to do.

I estimate that 95% of the development team were trying to suck their own dicks while the other 5% were actually doing something about it. As a PS3 supporter and a self professed one at that, this is pretty pathetic. I only had fun whenever I was fucking around with friends. After that, it was pretty boring.

Good job Sony, you shot yourself in the foot.

That's because Qore is done by SCEA marketing. Home was a SCEE project completely.

Look at the changes, PS Blog, and PSN integration that has been done on PlayStation.com. That's SCEA. The failure that is Home is SCEE.

Nothing is free. Home has made it clear that Sony has been shoveling money into a project that delivers none of what they promised and fails to provide even some of the most basic online social features of XBL Gold.
