2008 Heisman Finalists
« on: December 11, 2008, 08:20:44 AM »
Tim Tebow
RAT     YDS     TD     INT     CMP%
127.0    2515    28    2    64.9

Sam Bradford
RAT     YDS     TD     INT     CMP%
131.7    4464    48    6    68.3

Colt McCoy
RAT     YDS     TD     INT     CMP%
125.6    3445    32    7    77.6

And left out, despite having over 2,000 more passing yards and 13 more touchdowns than Tebow:

Graham Harrell
RAT     YDS     TD     INT     CMP%
115.4    4747    41    7    71.5

The politics in college football are disgusting.

The Heisman is crap now.  I'm a Florida fan and even I think Graham Harrell should get it.

Politics? Please, you do realize what conference Tebow dominated verses what conference Harrell dominated

The conference that produced only one serious Heisman candidate at the quarterback position verses the conference that produced three?

Every Texas Tech QB has impressive stats.  Every year.

If you actually watch football and don't just look at the stats, you'll understand how impressive Tebow has been this year and how important he is to his team's success.  McCoy and Bradford have both been extremely impressive, and I'd have a hard time choosing between the three, but Harrell doesn't deserve to be in this conversation, despite his gutty performance against Kansas.

I'd have a hard time choosing between the three.  I wish they'd do this after the bowl games.

And? When I look at schedule difficulty it's clear Tebow wins, same with Colt and Bradford

Tebow lost to Ole Miss on one of Florida's easiest schedules in recent years.  Harell lost to Oklahoma.  And if you think the big 12 south wasn't good this year you weren't watching football.  Tebow's the man and I think he should be considered, but so should Harrell.

And those two teams ended up at the same bowl.

Seeing Graham Harrell & Co. get completely thrashed in a crucial game that would have have all but sown up a National Title shot (and then go on to struggle against a bad Baylor team) probably has more to do with it then politics. Even though Harrell put up decent numbers in that Oklahoma game, it was all during garbage time in the 2nd half. During the first half, he looked helpless. You vote on the whole season, but obviously the games at the end are going to weigh the heaviest on people's minds.

using stats for this is dumb.

Bradford and Tebow play with a bunch of NFL draft picks (bradford especially). Colt McCoy IS the longhorns. This is a team that overachieved a ton thanks to McCoy. He's also the Longhorns leading rusher...which is kind of sad.

Also, McCoy only plays like 3 quarters a game while Bradford is in there running up the score.

They should give McCoy the heisman to make up for the one that Vince didn't get.

I concede that this is no defense in the Big 12, but I think that the SEC is vastly overrated (only need to look at Michigan's spanking in the bowl last year). Tebow is a "system guy" in every sense of the word and he has absolutely no future in the NFL. You obviously haven't seen how wide open Florida's receivers are able get, and every one of them has an NFL future lined up for them.

I remember watching that award ceremony. Vince had this look on his face like "Yo nicca, the trophy ain't gonna be worth shit after the rose bowl."

You think the SEC is overrated because Michigan beat them once? And you critisize Tebow for being a "system guy" and then try to give props to a QB from Texas Tech:lol

How many recently heralded Big 12 QBs are doing anything in the NFL?

Where did I ever say that I thought the SEC was overrated because of Michigan's bowl last year? I will reiterate that I think Tebow is nothing but a system guy. When was the last time you saw him throw into any kind of tight window? He is a good decision maker though, as evident by his only 2 interceptions thrown.

There is no doubt that alot of Harrell's success comes from the offensive system he operates in, but I've seen him make plenty of tough throws against good coverage the few times TT has been on national TV.

How about the fucking SEC championship? You know, the game that was last week? smh

PS: The Heisman isn't for the best QB. That is what the O'Brien is, and why Tebow isn't a finalist for that.

Seriously, after last week's fucking AMAZING performance in the SEC Championship from Tebow, it's no surprise that he was nominated.

That doesn't mean that Harrell didn't deserve it either, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tebow takes home a second Heisman after that SEC Championship game. Fuck, the only reason Tebow didn't produce as well as he did last year was because Florida actually had other parts to their offense this year.

In reality though, if Texas Tech would have beaten Oklahoma, Harrell would have won the Heisman and Bradford wouldn't even be considered for it at this point.

I still think either McCoy or Tebow will win.

PS: I'm posting this from the PS3. I just got a new USB Keyboard for Home use.
