I dont understand how anyone could sincerely be anticipating this.  I dont care about graphics, but it sounds like a typical dime-a-dozen fps with horrible art.  I like wii fps controls even more than keyboard and mouse, but Id rather wait for a hypothetical Black or something from a proven developer.

I'm rocking the PC these days so even my inherent Nintendo fanboyism leaves me only mildly interested in seeing how this whole thing plays out.

Same here.  I saw some Gametrailers footage yesterday, witnessed tons of gushing in another thread, and was totally perplexed.  All I saw was a very dull fps, with enemies that remind me of early FPSs when they get shot and fall over, and graphics that are utterly dull.

I even heard good old "I think it looks great in motion".  Honestly, I think it looks far worse in motion because you suddenly see the cruddy physics and admination.  At least in screenshots you can appreciate the shiny surface they put on some ugly-ass weapon.

I'd love a good FPS on the Wii with good graphics like Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3, but this just looks like boring second-rate drivel.

It's amazing what WiiFags (did I do it right?) will convince themselves is cool.

Example A: No More Heroes

Looks like Dog shit.

Not even talking graphics wise, they look dogshit too, but the game itself, looks like a 3rd rate quality game.

What are you talking about?  It's the next great hardcore game for the Wii!

It wasn't shit, but I found it to be thoroughly average at best and god-awful at worst.  And it was a complete failure as a sandbox game.  Even worse than Jak II.

However, it wasn't the savior of gaming on the Wii.

Someone explain to me the texture shimmering/aliasing look. Why does it do that? It looks like a DS game with that effect. I don't understand why it does that.

No More Heroes is an entertaining rental at best. The motion controls are broken. During a clash, waggle vertically and youll win. The game wont check if your rotating the way it wants. Finishing blows also dont check which way you'll waggle and just gives it to you. The wrestling moves check your direction, but since it doesnt penalize a wrong input and waits for the correct one you can just waggle till it registers. Could have been cool if they had accurate gesture input, which I know is possible because smash brothers and shake smash works 99% of the time.

they are trying to add as many effects as they can just to show off that they can pull off these ancient effects on the Wii without worrying how they actual look compared to the rest of the game.  I'm not even joking around here, I saw a walkthrough before where the guy was pointing out how they put in bumpmapping on the big alien enemy becauase they wanted to show it off, then you see the contrast with the flat world and it looks worse than it should.  From older videos it also seems like the frame rate isn't solid, so I'd rather have remove these unnecessary effects that hinder the style (albeit poor) to give it a boost in fps.

Visually The Conduit is pretty good for the Wii.  It does look better than most PS2/Gamecube shooters (even though I was just playing Black on PS2, the inferior version, and thinking about how it looks better) and could have passed for a third party shooter on the Xbox way back when.  It doesn't look good enough that people should be praising the graphics or anything considering how many Xbox games do trump it in terms of visuals and scope.  At least they're trying to do aiming right by giving the player the option to tune everything even down to the speed in which the game runs (although I think first person shooters on the Wii and naturally flawed; third person shooters would be better).  I'd probably pick it up cheap when it does come out, but Nintendo fans championing this as much as they have is really bad, especially the slow jerk IGN is giving this game.

Well, I think they're low resolution videos blown up to look bigger than they actually are, so that might be part of it.

there is a Sega published FPS for the Wii that I'm keenly interested in.
its called The House of the Dead: Overkill.
