my check was short my raise, but i had already arranged to buy this



I'm trying to get it to work with ableton for now.

I wanted to start with something small to ensure that if i didn't use it a lot i wouldn't be out a ton of money and also because the set up is similar to what i'm already used to for the past 8 years of DJing.  so it's a standard 2/4 channel controller.  it's all plastic when i'm used to the metal monstrosities like the Pioneer DJM series and the like so it feels really light, but i guess that's one of the points.

hopefully i can become competent with this thing because NYC, tragically, is in need of some good indie dance DJs, as most of the ones I've been forced to endure opening up for national and international acts have been just...tragic.

Eric - my friend's brother has that exact same mixer... he uses it with Virtual DJ though, not Ableton. I think I prefer sequencing a whole set with Ableton (which is what my next set is gonna be), rather than using it to mix. For mixing, something like Virtual DJ or Traktor coupled with a MIDI controller is the best for the price. I am gonna get my own MIDI controller next year.

Today I just bought some lightbulbs for the kitchen, perhaps I'll pick up the Fallout 3 guide, the really huge hardcovered one, if they have any left at Circuit City's closeout sale.
