I think that's the only thing stopping me from getting a GPS. I live in an apartment, so I'd have to take it inside every night, and that's just not something I can see myself doing.

**edit- Um isn't there a way for the GPS companies to find your GPS, if it's registered? Or do anything? Seems like that would be easy. If not, call pawn shops. If they have it, they should have the ID of whoever sold it to them.

Yeah, this happened to one of my friends, but in his case they cut the roof off his convertible to take the gps device.  This was in his apartments garage at the time.

I had this poo-colored Jetta during high school that was broken into three times with nothing ever being stolen.  The closest it came to that was the trunk lock was once busted in (making the trunk un-openable for the thief) and the area around my shitty rear speakers was all torn up, but they were bolted down and not going anywhere.

I figure its theft appeal is the poop color.

Hmm, I always remove the GPS and take it with me if I'm away from the car for a long time. Put in the glove compartment if it's just a quick in and out. Never bothered to remove the holding thingy from the window...

the gps was installed, and yes, i think i have now realized that it might tempt someone to break into my car, thx. it was actually just the monitor rather than the gps, so i don't think it would cost too much to replace, but yeah, if i replace it, i'm going to replace it with something i can hide
