Just happened to me

Happened to this guy

Quote
It's important that the people that took my $63.00 send out an email to alert owners of PS3s that changing there PSN password will delete there Resistance 2 game save file.

Before anyone says buyer beware, I now know to look at the technical issues forum of future game purchases to stay aware of issues, before not after something happens.

About 3 hours ago I started Resistance 2 just after changing my PSN password and surprise, I was cursed with the message,

(THIS DATA IS NOT YOURS,LOAD ABORTED) that was it, my save file is empty.
I franticly changed my password back to no avail.
It's sad to see that this has been a non issue even after have made the team aware of this problem.

Results as follow,
My online info is displayed but the campaign experience and information are gone, as well as all of my trophies and medals, strangely enough my ribbons are intact and opening my (Trophy Collection) icon in the Cross Media Bar shows  my trophies intact.
So when I join my clan now we can see my experience on my profile, but if I play in Competitive instead of Lv.5 Private First Class I'm Lv.1 and in Cooperative I am reduced to starting back as a Lv.1 instead of my Lv.11 Spec Ops guy, this is the same for my Soldier Lv.3 and Medic Lv.5.

Quote
Update...
I called technical support 1800-345-7669, and explained the problem in detail.
Including the obligatory (THIS DATA IS NOT YOURS,LOAD ABORTED).
The end result was accusations of me modding my PS3 with altered software, then I was told that I probably did a restore and erased the file, wouldn't that erase all the files not just 1?
They said no one has reported this before.
So go call these people so we can get it fixed.

And this guy

I just got this message earlier tonight and what seemed to have affected it was when I changed my password. I tried changing my password back but that didn't fix the problem. I wanted to post to let everyone know what games I found that have been affected and what games have not. R2, LBP, Dead Space, PAIN and Bioshock's game saves were corrupted and had to be deleted. Fallout 3, HVB, Super Stardust HD, and PJM were all ok. If there was a suspicion that this is a trophy related issue, then rest assured that I don't think it is because I had trophies in the games I listed whose games saves were not affected. Even if I was to delete the affected game saves, I still receive an error when clicking on Trophy Collection under the Game column of the XMB. So I assume you're not fixing the problem by just deleting your games saves.

Quote
Yes, there's a bug in the firmware updates or something since 2.50. People have been having this problem after changing their password, which I also fell victim to and was unable to unlock ANY trophies at all. I was forced to make a new PSN account, which didn't bother me because I didn't like my old name. The only way to fix is creating a new account, or at least that's what it seems like so far.

I've changed the password a couple of times in the past few weeks, no problem with the games I've played. Of course, Resistance 2 is not one of those games.

If you changed it back to the original one before booting one of the above games then maybe it'd be ok

I would take Sony more to task with what a shitty job they are doing managing their users' online personas, but Microsoft can't get it right, either, based on the recently discovered bug that wiped out accounts after having too many games played.

are you serious?

the only issues im hearing with MS is some gamers are complaining how party chat is breaking some multi games.

so demi better watch out?

That's really lame, if you were a demo-holic back in the day you could be fucked pretty easy.

i have over 240 games played i think.
not seen my account get wiped.

I can't search NeoGAF for obvious reasons, but look up the thread started by RandAlThor19 (I think that's his name) about multiple people's accounts crapping out after having too many games played.  So far, it's only affected a few of the people towards the upper echelon of achievement whoring (I'm talking miles beyond demi and me), but it could be a serious problem down the road for a lot of us if it's not fixed, and I'm not sure if it has been.

Will some nice non-banned person find the thread and post it here?

It looks like people have fixed it though, the NXE fixed it

Another win for NXE!

It's something like 700-800 games played.

wow - i guess you have to be on the ultra buy-all-versions achievement train plus every arcade game to get even close to that number :O

It was actually around 460, but NXE apparently fixed it, so everyone please return to your regularly-scheduled Sony bashing!

i had my 360 gamesaves deleted when recovering a gamertag once, dunno why that happened but i will never do it again.

now i use a memory unit for backing up my saves.

This is why I'm terrified of having to recover my gamertag.  I bought a memory card so I could safely move my gamertag around from system to system and it's been a great investment, plus a handy means of transferring data when necessary.

I look forward to a future where our saves are stored server side so we don't have to worry about this crap.

duckman will love this.

Wipeout HD is completely broken. The game will load, but when it gets to the screen that warns you about auto-save, you get an XMB error code and the game will stay on that screen forever, no way to get past it. I am not allowed to play this game anymore.

PixelJunk Eden is also borked for me, just like this guy said. Won't even load the game at all.

Can't you just start everything fresh again?  Login with your username/password and re-download your games.  Copy over any saves you want to keep beforehand and then copy them back after?

PS.

I guess X30 sucks too :P

They have a gigantic topic front and center on their forums, Sony said they are going to address this in a future firmware update and that's all they're saying. Apparently their customer service reps simply tell you that trophies are an optional feature that is still being tested so we can't complain about it.

Ratchet also does not work. I paid for this turd, this is bullshit. Half my PSN games don't work.

edit: My saves are sitting right there, the games simply don't read them. Deleting and redownloading doesn't do shit, and some of them are gameshared so I don't have that option.

Did you try deleting the saves for the games that won't boot?  Both normal saves and system saves that have a separate folder?

AdmiralViscen

  • Murdered in the digital realm
  • Senior Member
No, why should I delete my shit?

I'm done even spending my time on this issue, there is a 32 page thread on the official PS forums with no solutions to be found. Shit console total, Blu Ray only from now on.

edit: Well you can create a new XMB login ID and then tie your PSN account to it, but that means you lose all your saves for everything and I'm not doing that.

That sucks for you, but that's one game I know I have played since changing the password. And I never changed the password back, either.  :wtf I'd say that I'll try and boot it up later, but now I'm not sure I want to.

Is it possible to transfer the saves to a memory card, and copy them back to the user account? If not, bitch Sony out. Well, bitch them out anyway.

Already tried that with Resistance, nothing. Other people with Wipeout problems have tried deleting and redownloading the game etc.

I'm just going to stop turning my PS3 on until they fix this in one of their all-too-frequent patches and cross my fingers that the new patch doesn't fuck something else up.

I think you could call them and at least get credits for the games you bought but can't play.

I don't totally understand how this happens. I change my password often to gameshare, but I haven't run into this problem.
