My brother used to secretly put a playing tape recorder under my bed at night, when I tried to go to sleep. He'd let there be like 20 minutes of silence, followed by several minutes of creepy, subtle, monster noises. Not over the top roaring or anything, but just enough to be creepy and scare the shit out of me. And he would only have the noises go for a minute or two, so by the time I'd go and get my dad, the noises would be gone. I lost a lot of sleep because of him, and it took my a while to figure out
