snow in the northeast!
« on: December 19, 2008, 11:22:28 AM »
Once this storm passes, we're supposed to get 5 to 10 inches where I live.

As of 20 minutes ago, here is the view of my backyard from my bathroom window:

And here is the view of our street from my parents' window (sorry their screen sucks):

I woke up at 8:30 or 9 this morning and there was no snow yet. That red Tracker is the car I drive, and I had just driven it like 10 minutes prior to taking that photo. It's coming down, and fast!

Oh, and the best part of this? I was supposed to work at 11 today, but then Ecro called and said the college we both work at was closing at 10:30. ACE!

I live just outside of Toronto and we're currently getting hit hard. I'm really glad I don't have to go anywhere.

Yup, it's absolute chaos. I just got back from picking the gf up from work, where they sent her home early because she's sick. Good thing, because a few more hours of this and I doubt I'd be going anywhere.

Today was the first significant snowfall we've had this season. My parents got a puppy in May, so this was her first real experience with a snow-covered yard. She LOVES jumping around in it. Hilarious.

I don't know how much snow we got total. It's still snowing a little bit though.

I'm hoping it keeps the people out of my work tomorrow. The college [Ecro and] I work at holds a big Christmas party every year for the rich yuppies who donate a lot of money to the school. It's tomorrow night. I have to be there at 2:45pm, the party starts at 7, and we're expected to be there until like 1:30am. And OH, I shouldn't intend to eat anywhere from 6pm onward. That's a long time for someone with low bloodsugar like mine. I will be bringing sandwiches in small, portable pieces to sneak if I need to.

So we're expecting 700 people for this party. :( Maybe the snow will cut that number a little and it won't be so hectic. That would be AWESOME.

Where are you from in the Netherlands? I have friends in Friesland.

You have a beautiful country, I love visiting.

Katwijk aan Zee, a small town on the coast in Zuid-Holland. How often you come to the Netherlands?

(Image removed from quote.)

Going back for Xmas.

I've been there four times (1985, 1993, 1997, 2000). Last time was in 2000. I really need to get back there sometime soon.

Yeah, I know they have their own language. It's funny how they'll switch from Friese to Dutch depending on where we are.

Sucks, doesn't it? At least we managed to pity the service people for the heating system into coming out to fix it last night.

I don't know exactly why this is, but the Ann Arbor region is damned near always a few degrees colder than surrounding regions.

12°F
Feels Like
-3°F

Then again, I'm from arctic regions so I'm not supposed to complain about cold weather, but I did move away from that frozen tundra.

My coworkers won't know what hit them.  :-*   You know what a gay superhero's power would be?  He'd buttsecks you so hard that he'd start a fire from the friction and then you'd just blow up because the fire would set off the methane in your bowels.  That'd be hawt.
