even IGN compared it and they're distinguished mentally-challenged! I remember looking at the platinum award in EGM and being supremely jealous of MGS.

I didn't even know what MGS past being an inferior to Tenchu at the time.  I didn't play past the Pizza-hut demo until Zone of the Enders came out when my friend told me to try the MGS2 demo.  I really liked the MGS2 demo, and that coupled with knowing that MGS was about mechs got me to play MGS1.

MGS2 demo was the shit.

and MGS > Tenchu after I actually played the games.
