I look like a meth addict. I'm going to get a temporary fake tooth later this week, and a permanent real fake tooth in a few months which I'm told will be pretty much indistinguishable from the original, but still, GEEZ. It's costing me thousands of dollars too since I didn't have dental insurance.

Ice on the ground. I was running to catch the train because I was coming home late and really did NOT want to have to wait another 20 minutes for the next train and get home even later, but I forgot how treacherous the ground was. I wish I had a sexier story though. Any suggestions?

I wish I took a photo of my tooth while it was split and mutilated too. It looked pretty gruesome.

My front two teeth are crowns. They are pretty much indistinguishable from my others, although my dentist told me to take it was on biting hard food with my front teeth. Between the prep and the crowns, it cost 2500ish.

I don't really remember. My first thought was "fuck I am sprawled in the middle of the road and am soon going to get run over and die." It took me a little while to realize my tooth was split in three.

Oddly enough, it really didn't. It hurt, but only on about the level of a moderately severe sore throat or something. I mentioned that to a security guard who'd also lost teeth in accidents, and he said "just wait 'till the nerve is exposed", but when I finally got to the dentist he said the X-ray showed it was already exposed, yet I still wasn't in much pain.

The recovery from having it removed has been fairly painless too. They gave me Percocet but I haven't had to use it.

It's never appealed to me. My parents want me to become one so I can take over my dad's business, they even offered to pay for med school. But working in people's mouths is too disgusting to me. I file patient information on the weekends so I get to glance at some pretty ugly stuff.

I was raised to brush 2-3 times a day and floss, we rarely had candy in the house unless my mom sneaked some in (that being said my dad is an ice cream fiend), etc. So while that's been my history many people have completely opposite views on oral hygiene. For whatever reason people realize they need to take care of their body but treat the mouth differently. So imagine seeing these types of people all day for hours. Holy fuck, no thanks. Before my dental appointments I make sure to brush like my life depended on it because I know my dad's going to be looking for something. There are people who wake up, don't brush their teeth, then go to their appointment. Plaque so thick they could spit lumps out

I had half of one of my front teeth chipped in half when I was about 9 or so. All I remember was that it was the most painful thing I ever experienced. I was at the skating rink and some cigarillo pushed me accidentally. I got it made fake though, so that's good I guess.

Same here, aroun 10 or 11 years old.
Had my tooth chip of twice. First time I was also at an an ice skating. My brother and I were roughhousing and he threw me against the side, I smacked with my head against it and BLAM, part of my front tooth chipped off.
Second time was at a wild water park in a wild water slide. Brother and I were roughhousing again. He threw me against the side, I smacked with my head against it and BLAM that same part (that was fixed) of my front tooth chipped off.

I didn't cry.

I lost my two front teeth in an ATV accident when I was like 12. Since my teeth were still all moving around and shit, they just built enamel front teeth and sent me on my way. They lasted until college when I lost one getting punched and the other one fell out like a week later. I was poor, so I begged the dentist to build cheap ass fake enamel teeth again, which he did. They lasted me until I was 26, at which point I thankfully had the 2+ grand it cost to get proper crowns.

Yeah, the crowns I have now are great. You couldn't tell them from my real teeth.

Actually, because of the ghetto paperclips and gum job the dentists had to do for my poor ass in the past, I had a gap between my front teeth that I was rather self conscious of. When they did the crowns, they were able to correct that, and I have front teeth that appear straight now, yay. That was totally worth 2500 bucks.

I've been grinding my teeth like mad since my second wisdom tooth extraction. I was waking up in the morning feeling like I'd been chewing rocks all night. And it's segued nicely into grinding my teeth because of the pain on this tooth that requires a root canal. I am megadosing on anti-inflammatories before bed tonight.
