Tales from the Twilight World and Night at the Opera = best Blind Guardian albums.

Power metal with dashes of folk influences:
Falconer

I just started listening to Dream Theater and they are blowing my shit wide open.
I've found their album Train of Thought to be the best.
Best song on that album, This Dying Soul.

Kamelot is pretty well known.

Nevermore approaches thrash but is still pretty power/prog metal

I almost forgot. Pagan's Mind. Pure prog metal through and through. Their album Enigmatic: Calling is amazing.

dcharlie: great selection. There's some stuff that I'm pretty sure I have on my hard drive (Chapterhouse and The Telescopes) but haven't given a listen to in forever.

I'll definitely check out Blind Guardian, been meaning to give them a listen forever.

Pagan's Mind is pretty good too, I liked this:

Okay what exactly do you call music that sounds like this? Have the pretentuous music neckbeards coined a genre for this niche? I know bands like Dazzler do similar music:
