Kawazu preparing MEGATON for 2009
« on: January 01, 2009, 02:04:40 PM »
from Dengeki interviews apparently
Quote
Kawazu (Square-Enix) :

- possible SaGa related surprise for the 20th anniversary of the series

i hope it's either a new game or an extensive remake of Saga Frontier 1

also I'll repost what I wrote in the Last Remnant thread

Quote
So I watched a Youtube video of the end credits.  It looks like the development team for this game can't really be properly characterized as "the SaGa team" as I and others did.  The director and lead artists worked on RS PS2, but most of the rest of the team seems to be different.  In particular, none of the usual suspects from the core SaGa design team that's been mostly the same since RS2 were involved with this, excepting Kawazu in a hands-off management role.  I wonder what they have been working on.

my frothing demand increases

A Saga game would not be a megaton.

well, unless you can give a cite to back up your nattering negative nabobbery I'll choose to stay on the train.

if it's a new game I think it may be internally designed and externally developed a la TWEWY, maybe for DS, since most of the SaGa graphics team but not the core design team was on TLR.

and it totally is a megaton for me omg
well, a nondeterministic megaton since the SaGa series is pretty uneven.  but it has a 50% chance of being awesome!

:bow :bow :bow Kawazu :bow2 :bow2 :bow2

I hope it's an FFL2 or a RS2 remake... never got to play RS2 and I hear it's the best SaGa ever.

I'd prefer an SF1 remake because that game had a lot of unrealized potential, and RS PS2 shows that Kawazu and Koizumi are capable of actually improving on games they remake (the SNES original had a lot of issues).  FFL2 is already great as is.

If it's a new game it would be cool to see another FFL1/2/SF1 style game, with wacky worlds and robots and monsters and shit.

Hell yeah, that's probably my favorite thing about SaGa Frontier... one minute you're in a gypsy kingdom, one you're in your traditional RPG kingdom, another minute you're in a typical American suburb with a giant Aztec ruin in the center of it, another you're in a large city, then you find yourselves in the belly of a giant beast.
