Yep, surprised by the game's quality in spite of the horrendous DS graphics.

I've been eyeing this for awhile. Seemed like an atmospheric shooter/adventure. Good to know that it's actually decent.

post a vid

I dunno how to record vid and my camera is balls.

Here's one I found on YouTube

The video is slowish, but the game is smooth 60. Very smooth.

You shoot with the L button (R if you are left handed), you move with the d-pad and you aim with the stylus. You can swap weapons by selecting the gun at the bottom, then slide the stylus to the weapon you want. Like Metroid Prime 3.

From what I've played looks like they aren't shoehorning jumping into the game too. Smart move as Prime Hunters' double-tap to jump was frustrating.

IGN has a video review up and if you put it on mute there is great footage of it

I might pick it up since I'm on a bit of a DS high right now (Chrono Trigger DS was fantastic).  When does it come out?

the single-player was actually pretty okay, even if it did get repetitive

multiplayer was great, and would have lasted a lot longer if it hadn't been for friend codes, exploits, and hacks :-\

Main reason people hated on hunters is because it wasn't really a Metroid game.  It's not even a Metroid Prime situation where it has shades of 2D Metroid.  It was basically it's own thing, and it was alright for the most part.

It is one of the three Metroid games I've never finished (along with Prime 2 and Metroid 2) but this wasn't because it was bad, more that I had no clue what I was supposed to do.  Just last night I played it a bit and wanted to start up where I left off years ago, except I was totally lost and it didn't give any direction on what to do next.

60 FPS makes just about anything interesting.  60 FPS on the fucking DS counts as a miracle at least worthy of checking out.

If a good game comes out, I want to play it.  I'm not going to let the system it's on determine my interest.  Only a fanboy does that.

I play my DS every single day, you presumptuous grouch.  That doesn't mean I want to play every type of game on it, especially something like this.  It's the type of game that's much, much better on consoles.

When it comes to making a purchase decision on Moon, I encourage anyone that loves FPS games on DS to check this one out, as its technical offering, story, design, style, and control are all amazingly well done. The game can certainly get repetitive at times, as a few bosses are used multiple times with compounding difficulty elements added to them to change things up a bit (fight a guy, fight him with drones guarding him, fight him with drones guarding him and a shield disarm system), but for the most part Renegade Kid has offered an experience that’s more tuned towards the adventure side of things, adding in plenty of combat to keep the experience fresh. The guns are balanced well, control is amazingly quick and precise, all running at 60 frames per second, and even though many of the areas can feel repetitious a you go from level to level in underground hatches, there’s enough story and unique ideas (human processing plants are always fun to explore) to keep players moving from level to level. This may be a game you’ll want to put down after each major chunk – even if for just a day or two – but it’s also one you’ll come back to again and again, as Renegade Kid’s latest offering is one of the best in its class. Oh, and for the record, this game credits only six team members outside of music and an added art house. That’s a tiny team, and one hell of an impressive game.

IGN = 8.5

Pretty fucking impressive for six dudes...

Metroid Prime 3 is.

Only the first hour.

Granted, I only played about 6 hours of MP3, but even to that point it felt like a FPS with just a few adventure elements thrown in.  It's a much different feel that MP1&2.  Not that I really mind...I enjoyed what I played and always meant to go back to it.

Oh okay let me know how the other versions of Moon are then.

You're missing the point in your rush to cry "fanboy."  It's not even about this particular game.  I just don't want to play this type of game on the DS.  It's the type of game that you couldn't easily play in public since it's more involved than a puzzle game, RPG, or even a 2D platformer, and if I was already at home, why the hell would I play this when I could be playing my consoles.  I'm not opposed to this type of game at all...but I think it's on the wrong platform.

Of course, I've been arguing for years against the PSP model of making half-assed console ports with worse controls.

I got it yesterday, although I haven't played it much yet. Graphics are pretty good although certainly not mind-blowing or anything [lots of large rooms and decent textures, but lacking in complexity], music is pretty good if a bit "tinny" at time, and the controls are simple and effective.

My only real complaint is that, being left-handed, it can sometimes be difficult to move and aim at the same time.
