Story:

The King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe by following the surviving members of three legendary fighting clans who are continually whisked away to other dimensions by an evil power. As the fighters enter each new world they battle that universe’s native defenders, while the force that brought them seeks to find a way to invade and infect our world.

Three legendary fighting clans? = Kusanagi, Yagami, and Kagura (they have a long history of bad blood).  Can't see this being bad!

All of my super nerd friends tell me that KoF has "a super awesome story"

I don't know if I believe them or not because all I see is Duck King breakdancing and Mai Shiranui being bouncy

There's no question that I am the biggest KOF fan here.  I play them all.  And let me tell you, the story is nonsensical lol-tastic garbage.  There's really barely any story at all, just cheesy "cut scenes" that make little sense.

Sounds like they got the storyline from a Hong Kong comic!

This can't possibly be worse then the Dragonball or Street Fighter movies, to begin with it directed by a guy who actually knows how to shoot a fight scene and has some credible onscreen fighters starring in it.

I wouldn't place Gordon Chan at the top of the heap of Hong Kong action filmmakers, he's a talent sponge, as his films are only ever as good as the raw materials he has to work with.  But even then I expect at least a base level of competence that I'm still not seeing in the other cynically made product extensions as the aforementioned Street Fighter and Dragonball movies.  It probably won't be great, but it can't possibly suck more then its competitors is the jist of what I'm saying here.

Yeah, I know. If Maggie Q brings to the KOF movie the acting chops she showed in Need for Speed Undercover...  :'(
