Did anyone get the Skins S1 DVD set? EDIT WHAT THE FUCK! SKINS S3 1/22/09

I haven't yet.  I should in a day or so.  But I've heard that BBC America removed/changed some of the music when they showed it.  I want to know if the DVDs feature the original music or not, because if they don't I'm not paying for them.  If they pulled Shuggie Otis out of Skins, they could shove it up their distinguished mentally-challenged fellow asses.

I watched both versions and its a crap shot on the us release. Music has been replaced with generic shit. Not all of the songs were cut though. Glad I decided to netflix it first. First spaced's weird aspect ratio problem now music problem bbc is sucking in america, I'll keep to torrents and importing.

I bought it.  It was only 31 bucks at Fry's.  I've seen all the episodes so it's not really that big of a deal.  I was just shocked that they cut the Wild World scene.  Of all the music you'd think they'd secure, that should have been first on the list.

Maybe for the series 2 set in a few months, they will forget to license the music for the Crystal Castles scene and they'll just cut the scene.

The r1 version was messed up and was shown with the pal refresh rate. Which makes for some very disorienting watching. BBC released another "proper" version but did not send out replacement discs to those with the original discs.

Argh, this is killing me   I totally loved the Shuggie Otis song in the second episode   They replaced it with this generic SHIT MUSIC.

At least YouTube has the original.

The DVD set is cheap.  Like 30-40 bucks.  I guess dropping a lot of the licensed music helped there.  The licensed music thing probably won't matter to you since you have been not been spoiled.  Also, the subtitles on the DVD will help you pick up and urbandictionary all their slang.

I am fond of this review blurb.  I think it is pretty accurate:

"Skins" would be the result if Larry Clark's grungy, icky, utterly depressing film "Kids" and The CW's glossy, silly, utterly vacuous show "Gossip Girl" ever met at a party, got wasted, rufie'd one another up, mated like ferrets and had a kid.

Series 3 starts 1/22.  All new cast, with the exception of Effy Stonem, who is apparently the main character.  I could live with that.  I like Effy.  The rest of the cast though. . .

effy looks hot and legal in the teaser at least.  I think the third series will be fine since it took the writers a while last time to flesh out the characters.  The dialogue is still funny so it'll still at least be a decent show.

Not really.  Of the current cast, I think Effy Stonem is the one I'd most like to fuck.

I haven't seen any of the new eps yet.  What's the verdict so far?

The first episode was almost slapstick, which kind of bothered me. But it still had some entertaining dynamic. The second episode seemed the lack all subtlety, but in the end pulled together. All in all, I miss the original cast, but I'm still entertained.
