I know BK has been really bad with trans fat.

This is only the third time I've had fast food in five months.

Yeah fast food sucks ass. God knows how they get away with all the nutritional stuff in that food. Hell restaurants are even worse.

I really need to get healthier.  I'm 21 and starting to get a belly on me...  I eat fast food every day for lunch and sometimes for dinner, and drink soft drinks all day long.  I sit at my desk and eat candy like nobody's business.  I don't exercise either, and it doesn't help that I have heart problems in my family.  I know that I lead this terribly unhealthy lifestyle, but I can't seem to change it.   :(  What's the secret?

portion control, food monitoring, a strict eating schedule. I had to get some help with my entree sizes cause I didn't know what normal portion was. And a lot of people dont realize that the body doesn't need a huge meal. Just small meals, with snacks in between meals. Just changing how I eat and how big of portions I've gone from horrible 385 pounds (largest i've been ever) to 345 pound in just a few weeks.

Don't be a pussy.

If that's not an option, you can replace your bad habits with less bad habits.  If you must have fast food, have Subway or at least get the healthier options from the menu, including fruit as a side.  Replace your soft drinks with a combination of diet drinks and water.  Replace your candy with healthier snacks like fruit or rice cakes or something.  Try to exercise on a bike or an elliptical machine.  They are low enough impact that you can still read while working out.  If you can't be bothered to exercise at all, at least try to place a sport and walk (or jog) around your neighborhood.

Don't fuck with your heart, especially with your family's history.  You don't want to be dead in your late 30s like my father (heart attack at 39).

And seriously, don't be a pussy.

First, your advice is basically sound. But seriously, no offense man, but no-one should be taking diet advice from someone based on getting down to 345lbs. At 385lbs, it's VERY easy to lose weight. All you have to do is stop the abuse of your body for a while. A ton of that is going to be water weight too.

This guy says he is 'just starting to get a belly' so he's in a totally different situation. I don't know what he weighs but going from 200lbs to 160lbs, say, is much much harder than from 385lbs to 345lbs. Most people are going to need to more a lot more than simply eliminating some of the grosser problems in your diet and lifestyle.

I went from 205 to 180 in four and a half months just by running 3-5 times a week (while being a daily smoker and boozing a considerable amount 4x/week). I'd imagine that I'm also younger than a lot of you though, so that definitely has something to do with how seemingly easy it was. The secret, I think, is cutting back on bullshit food and decreasing portions while increasing exercise and kicking your ass everyday at the gym. Also, four and a half months isn't that short of a time. Don't expect immediate results at all.

Thanks to Christmas break (what's up, pie and beer?), though, I'm back up to around 186, which will go away since I'm back at school, running 5x / week and walking nearly everywhere.

I think this one is fitting due to the economic situation.

I'm toying with the idea of buying KZ2...

Oh, I thought this was funny: Playboy has a review of Prinny (PSP) in the new issue. 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

Yeah, I noticed that too! I NEVER thought I'd see that game in Playboy, especially since they usually cover only the super-mainstream games and licensed drivel. I think they rate out of 4, btw.

The story on Guinea-Bissau was awesome too.

It doesn't show really, but I've noticed more and more lately that I've gained a lot of weight.  I'm heavier now than I've ever been, and the pure weight wouldn't be as much of a factor for me if I thought some of it might me muscle, but thinking that I have any muscle on me just makes me laugh uncontrollably.

Don't fuck with your heart, especially with your family's history.  You don't want to be dead in your late 30s like my father (heart attack at 39).

And seriously, don't be a pussy.

The reason I started thinking about this is because my friend Steve (22) was walking into work a couple months back and dropped because of a heart attack.  They got him to a hospital, but just to think that someone that's in about the same shape that I'm in... it can happen to him?  It should happen to me.

And I'm still working on that last part.
