I'm still waiting on some documents before I can do my taxes. I have my W2 from my present employer, but I still need my W2 from where I was on contract and my student loan  interest statement and a couple of other things. I usually get around 1800 or so, but that will be less this year since I cashed out a pension plan rather that was too small to worry about rolling over into an IRA. 10% penalty on that, you know.

Both of those are more money than I make in a year's time.

I never get a big refund.  I'd rather keep my money than give the government an interest free loan.

That's cool. I'd rather get a lump sum than get a few unnoticed extra bucks each paycheck that would probably be wasted and possibly run the risk of having to cut the gubmint a check come April 15.  Now, if it was the amount Zero gets back, then it's time to reexamine things.

The big refund make sense for a lot people.  It's like an automatic savings plan.  It's just not my preference.

That's what happens when your state goes broke.

Federal tax refunds wouldn't be affected, though.

It's my xmas present to myself and wife. Interest free loan? Sure, but I couldn't save that money myself. Something always pops up when I have extra money. We are going to get a new sofa, love seat, and maybe a recliner for my aging ass. We are also booking a family vacation to The Breakers resort in north Myrtle beach in April. I'll be getting a 360 also.
Having 3 kids, paying an embarrassing amount of interest for a mortgage, $6000 for child care, and donating old clothes to charities adds up over the year.  :american

I have no idea how much I'll be getting back. Maybe I should do my taxes at a reasonable time this year.

Screw that. If he doesn't work for Nintendo and yet somehow made money on the Wii anyway, he should get every last dollar returned.

I had to pay last year  :-\

Haven't gotten my W2 yet this year, so I'll have to wait and see if I'm better off this time.  Hopefully!

That was for the year before when I had 2 in child care. :-[
Shit, I forgot that last year my 5yo was in kindergarten. Therefore, that figure will be cut in half. So $3000.
$125 a week. Since my 2yo is now potty trained, we'll send him to a program called "First Big Step" which is like pre pre-school this September. That costs more than $125 a week.

Incredible.

My brother and I never went to day care. I did preschool at 4 and so did he, but that was it. I guess I can see why now!
