Actually, being eaten alive by a bear is a pretty awesome way to go. I really don't think there's anything more definitively badass than being eaten by a bear. You're a legend at that point.

One guy I grew up with was racing his motorcycle up a hill and ran into the back of a stopped semi-truck, dying instantly.

Another guy I knew since kindergarten died after the Lava Lamp he had put on the stove exploded and shot a huge chunk of glass into his heart.

A little while ago, I went to visit one of my professors, since I hadn't seen him on any of the class schedules for a whole year and a half. I thought he started teaching at a new college or something, but one of the department heads informs me that he apparently killed himself.

When I was younger, like before high school even, I always talked to this girl from Detroit. She was often depressed and had some mental health issues, and she and her mother were always pretty poor. We kind of lost touch after a while, and then one day her AOL profile disappeared. Part of me always wondered if they had to lose the internet to buy food or something, or if she'd killed herself. I haven't thought about her in years. I always hope they just had to get rid of the net.

Anyway, the article says he was walking. There's no mention of a bike anywhere. So it's not really the same as Sp0rsks' thing. Your friend was crossing a side street and a car just turned in, hit him, and Mr. John bumped his head, dying instantly.

They posted the news on his facebook. The article itself doesn't say he was riding his bike, but friends and family say he was.
